Okay, okay. Last week was SUPPOSED to be the end of our Napa Valley wines run, BUT, you love them so much, we decided to extend it one more week! So here it is, the final flight of Napa Valley wines and their accompanying tapas that will pull you through your work day. For next week is another region!
This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday May 31st, and the wines and their tapas will be available through June 6th.
First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Truchard Pinot Noir from Carneros, Napa Valley, and offers the following tasting notes,
“A beautiful nose of pomegranate, rhubarb, and wild strawberry; highlighted with citrus blossom, tea, and earth. The mouth is silky; with bright flavors of cranberry, ripe plum, and sweet vanilla. Firm acidity and delicate tannins focus the palate and provide a lingering finish of spice and red fruit.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 Monticello Vineyards Merlot from Oak Noal. The wine is described as,
This wine displays a nice deep garnet tone. The aromas are full and bright, with a lively beam of acidity and an appealing hint of lightly toasted oak, slight spice and vanilla. On the palate the wine is full bodied with a modest attack. The supple flavors are of classic red fruits.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2014 Quilt Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaker says,
COLOR: Deep, dark brick red to blood plum. AROMAS: A seamless blend of crème de cassis, hazelnut, cocoa, blackberry preserves, charry meat, and blackberry pie along with dark licorice, rhubarb, strawberry, spice and vanilla. PALATE: Rich and satisfying with chocolate brownie, yogurt, molasses, brown sugar and rhubarb notes presented in perfect balance with higher-toned fruit emphasis.”
SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
