The wines and flavors of the ‘other’ California (regions outside of Napa Valley) are featured at SOHO this week and through August 31.

First, SOHO will pour a 2020 Shooting Star Sauvignon Blanc from Lake County, CA.

This Sauvignon Blanc shows off the great growing region of Lake County, aromas are of guava and citrus zest, with flavors of passionfruit, pineapple, and pink grapefruit.

The second wine is a 2019 Beckman Vineyards Cuvee Le Bec from Santa Ynez Valley, CA.

Black and blue fruits, licorice, violets, and pepper aromas lead the way in this outstanding vintage of Cuvee le Bec. A cooler vintage brings some fantastic structure and acid-ity, where the blackberry, dark cherry, licorice, pepper, and roasted herbs are complex and long on the palate

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2018 Ancient Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles, CA.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon presents vivid varietal aromas of luscious black fruits with notes of cedar, pen-cil shaving and black olive. A deep, layered palate un-folds with heady flavors of black currant, blackberry and blueberry with suggestions of cherry, mint, vanilla, and toasted oak. Plump tannins and balanced acidity add length and structure to a richly integrated finish.

First, SOHO will pour a 2019 Etude Rosé of Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara, CA.

Aromas of fresh cut strawberry, white peaches and pleasant floral aromas of tree blossoms. Flavors are similar, adding blood orange, watermelon, nectarine and cherry.

The second wine is a 2018 Ancient Peaks Chardonnay from Paso Robles, CA.

Tropical aromas of pineapple, papaya and banana with suggestions of citrus and spice with accentuating layers of peach, apricot and green apple.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2018 Siduri Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara, CA.

Upfront aromas of dried cranberry, Black Mission Fig, Chinese Five Spice and black plum, along with flavors of fresh raspberry, black plum and blueberry.

First, SOHO will pour a 2019 Diora La Belle Fête Rosé from Monterey, CA.

Light lemon yellow in color. Soft, subtle aromas of lime and cantaloupe with a whiff of minerality. Greengage plum, kiwi, and aromas of fresh, ripe strawberries and notes of red grapefruit and honeydew melon complemented by hints of mandarin and watermelon with vibrant acidity and an elegant medium weight mouthfeel .

The second wine is a 2019 DAOU Savignon Blanc from Paso Robles, CA.

Aromatics of pineapple, gooseberry, lemongrass and star jasmine anticipate gentler suggestions of key lime pie, citrus zest, tropical rain forest and lychee fruit.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2019 Lioco Carignan Sativa from Mendocino, CA.

Rich, dark and enticing. Flavors of LuAromas of black cherry, sarsaparilla, and cacao and flavors of salted plum, black raspberry and cola.

First, SOHO will pour a 2019 Terra d’Oro Chenin Blanc & Viognier from Clarksburg, California.

mineral finish.

The second wine is a 2018 Morgan Chardonnay from Santa Lucia Highlands, California.

Aromas of lemon custard, nilla wafer, and sea spray complemented by a light touch of
crème brûlée, graham cracker, and salted butter toffee.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2019 Lapis Luna Zinfandel from North Coast, California.

Rich, dark and enticing. Flavors of Lush blueberry, plums, and blackberry cobbler. Finish is smooth, long, and juicy .

First, SOHO will pour a 2020 Patient Cottat Le Grand Caillou Sauvignon Blanc from Vin de France, France.

Light lemon yellow in color. Soft, subtle aromas of lime and cantaloupe with a whiff of minerality. Greengage plum, kiwi, and citrus flavors with vibrant acidity and interesting minerality.

The second wine is a 2018 Chateau Capendu Corbieres La Comelle from Languedoc Roussillon, France.

Intense garnet color with ruby hints. Pronounced elegant nose, with ripe fruits and spice aromas. Full-bodied palate, generous, powerful with notes of black fruits and spices, soft and supple tannins.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2015 Gerard Bertrand Art De Vivre from Languedoc, France.

The nose is fruity and elegant. It reveals notes of blackberry, blueberry and a touch of cassis jam. The palate is fruity juicy, precise and offers freshness and an acid frame. The wine expresses notes of blackberry, plum and slight notes of black cherry. Endowed with a beautiful brilliant ruby red color, this complex and elegant wine offers delicious aromas of ripe red fruits, a round palate with well-balanced melted tannins.

First, SOHO will pour a 2016 Andre Scherer Pinot Blanc from Alsace, France.

A pale straw-yellow in color with green flecks. On the nose, fresh scents of citrus and pineapple. On the palate, refreshing with excellent acidity with notes of green fruits, lime with a touch of vanilla. The finish is bright and fresh.

The second wine is a 2018 Louis Chevallier Bourgogne from Bourgogne, France.

A Pinot Noir with a well defined nose of brambly red berry fruit. The palate is slightly rustic and light-bodied, but fresh with tart cherry fruit and hints of brown spices with orange peel.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2016 Clos Saint-Vincent Saint-Emilion from Bordeaux, France.

The nose is fruity and elegant. It reveals notes of blackberry, blueberry and a touch of cassis jam. The palate is fruity juicy, precise and offers freshness and an acid frame. The wine expresses notes of blackberry, plum and slight notes of black cherry.

First, SOHO will pour a 2018 Gerard Bertrand Cremant de Limoux Brut Rose Cuvee from Languedoc-Roussillion, France.

The crémant Rose boasts a beautiful salmon-pink robe with glimmering reflections. Delicate bubbles and an extraordinary vivacity on the palate, with a rich, indulgent texture. A complex bouquet with long-lasting aromas of strawberry and raspberry, backed with hints of toasted bread.

The second wine is a 2018 Nicolas Potel Bourgogne from Bourgogne, France.

VioRuby dark in color. This wine has a bouquet of red cherries, white flowers and spices. On the palate fine toasted notes with honey that give way to long lastng notes of black fruits. The tannins are silky and well balanced.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2015 Chateau Cap de L’Ousteau Haut-Medoc from Bordeaux, France

This wine has a very intense and bright red garnet color. The nose is complex, persistent and delivers cherry, black current and mocha aromas. On the palate, the wine is supple with vanilla and red fruit notes.

First, SOHO will pour a 2018 Terrazas de Los Andes Reserva Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina

Bright red color with purple shades. Intense floral and fruity notes. Presence of violet, ripe black cherry and plum aromas. Reveals a toasty and spicy character of black pepper and chocolate. Its sweet and juicy mouthfeel delivers finesse.

The second wine is a 2019 Domaine Bousquet Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza, Argentina.

Violet color with ruby tones. The nose shows strawberries and flowers aromas with spicy and mineral notes. On the mouth is refined, stylish red, showing scented oak, fine, savory tannins and bright acidity.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2019 O LEAO Red Blend from Cachapoal Valley, Chile.

Dark ruby color with light ruby halo. Nose of ripe red fruits of strawberry, cherry with pepper, herbaceous, wood and spice. Dark fruit taste with chocolate and soft medium tannins.

First, SOHO will pour a 2017 TerraNoble Gran Reserva Carignan from Maule, Chile.

Intense deep red color, with outstanding aromas of red fruits, sour cherries, flowers and mineral notes. Very refreshing, complex and well-structured on the palate, it’s rustic tannins have been tamed by the flavors of the food.

The second wine is a 2019 Piattelli Reserva Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina.

Intensely aromatic on the nose. Aromas of blueberries, plums and blackberries. Extremely well balanced fruit to acidity balance. This is a medium to heavy weight wine.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2015 Cuvelier Los Andes Coleccion from Mendoza, Argentina.

Red with ruby reflections and a very nice intensity. Aroma are complex, intense and seductive with notes of red fruit, spice and marmalade. Mouthfeel is very soft, silky, velvety and intense.

First, SOHO will pour a 2018 Escudo Rojo Reserva Carmenere from Valle del Colchagua, Chile.

Carmine red with a purple tint. Powerful and complex with intense, forward fruit, the nose opens on black plum and blackberry aromas mingled with notes of spice. The wine has a balanced concentration and acidity, with very round, silky and fine tannins.

The second wine is 2018 Bodegas Catena Zapata San Carlos Cabernet Franc from Mendoza, Argentina.

The Catena Cabernet Franc presents a purple color with red ruby tones. The nose offers elegant aromas of spices, and fresh herbs as thyme and rosemary, red berries, cassis and raspberries. The mouthfeel is full and rich with cassis, raspberries flavors and notes of black pepper.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2017 Cousino-Macul Antiguas Reservas Cabernet Sauvignon from Valle del Maipo, Chile.

A deep intense and bright ruby red color. With aromas of red fruits such strawberry, cherries and blackberries giving way to touches of eucalyptus. On the palate, it is an elegant wine with good structure, with medium acidity, soft tannins and a medium-long finish.
