Three California wines will be highlighted at SOHO this evening for Flight Night! The wines and tapas debuting tonight are available through Tuesday, March 8.

First, SOHO will pour a 2019 Mettler Family Albarino from Lodi, California.

“Dazzling green-apple flavors and a zippy intensity in the texture make this unoaked wine very appetizing and energized. Crisp, Tangy, and delicious.” This wine pairs perfectly with lighter fish and acidity.

The second wine is a 2018 Matchbook ‘The Arsonist’ Red Blend from Dunnigan Hills, California.

“This blend is dedicated to the finest Bordeaux varietal growing in our Dunnigan Hills vineyard.—Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are blended to add length, depth, and roundness. We age the wine 28 months in a combination of French, European, and American Oak.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2017 Vinum Cellars ‘The Insider’ Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles, California.

This Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon has medium plus dark plum color. Casis immedi-ately jumps out of the glass which invites more intrigue then subtle grape tannin be-comes evident followed by ripe cherry and ultimately baked rhubarb pie notes. Palate entry is super balanced with a silky texture.

Three Italian wines will be highlighted at SOHO this evening for Flight Night! The wines and tapas debuting tonight are available through Tuesday, February 22.

First, SOHO will pour a 2020 Ca’ del Sarto Pinot Grigio from Friuli.

Light with delicate lemon, lime and kiwi on the nose. This is a fresh Pinot Grigio with flavors of melon, tropical and citrus flavors. Finishes pleasant and clean.

The second wine is a 2020 Olianas Cannonau from Sardegna.

An explosion of small berries with hints of dark chocolate and tobacco, at the palate shows a silky tannins and a good concentration, well balanced by the pleasant acidity.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2019 Feudo Principi di Butera Nero D’Avola from Sicilia.

Color : Bright ruby red.
Bouquet : Ample and persistent; shows intense fruity.
notes of plum, cherries, and spicy hints.
Palate : Dry and medium-bodied, revealing mouthwatering red fruit; hints of wild mushrooms and espresso lead to substantial and polished tannins; beautiful graphite minerals linger on the long finish.

First, SOHO will pour a 2020 G.D. Vajra Dolcetto D’Alba from Dolcetto.

Our Dolcetto d’Alba DOC is a homage to a wonderful, often overlooked heritage of Piemonte. It is a pure, vibrant and fruity expression of the grape, ideal for many food pairings.

The second wine is a 2019 Vigne Surrau Naracu from Cannonau.

“Naracu” is the name given to the historic structures from the Nuraghic civilization that can be found through Sardegna. These megalithic buildings were developed during the Nuragic age dating back to 2000 CBE. Today they have become a symbol of Sardegna and its culture. “Naracu” is 100% Cannonau, fermented and aged in stainless steel, and cement. The wine is made in a fresh, vibrant style, and expression of the granite soil and Mediterranean sea.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2018 Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico from Sangiovese.

Deep, ruby-red in color, this Chianti Classico offers aromas of ripe cherries and red plums, with subtle notes of toasted vanilla beans and purple flowers. On the palate, the wine displays a superbly structured character with bright acidity and a pleasantly savory finish.

First, SOHO will pour a 2019 Riva Leone Barbera from Piemonte.

Ruby red color with purple hints. Robust, fresh and with mature plum scents. Full bodied and long lasting on the palate.

The second wine is a 2019 Santa Cristina Toscana Rosso from Toscana.

Ample black cherry and plum fruit is shaded by toasty oak.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2020 Art of Earth Montepulciano D’Abruzzo from Montepulciano D’Abruzzo

Dark dusty violet color. Aromas and flavors of marinated blackberry leaf, herbs de Provence, and green peppercorn with a slightly chewy, crisp, fruity milkshake and pomegranate finish.

First, SOHO will pour a 2018 Nielson Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara, California

Open with a floral and mineral character typical of San-ta Barbara. Classically varietal with wild strawberry fruit, firm bright acidity and a fresh gentle mineral finish.

The second wine is a 2019 Barossa Valley Estate GSM from Australia.

Vibrant red berry fruits, fragrant spices and delicate flo-ral aromas on a smooth, silky texture.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2018 Luke Wines Cabernet Sauvignon from Wahluke Slope, Washington

Aromas dominated by Marionberry and dark chocolate, accented by hints of mint and molasses. Supple, focused and expressive, layering coffee-accented blackberry and currant flavors with polished tannins and hints of cedar and smoke.

First, SOHO will pour a 2020 Imagery Pinot Noir from California.

Balanced and smooth, this Pinot Noir has layered notes of jammy strawberry, cherry and boysenberry. The fruit flavors are enriched by well integrated oak and blended with 5% Petit Verdot to achieve a substantial body. Our Pinot Noir is rich and complex with soft tannins and a long layered finish. Petit Verdot contributes to the beautiful color and substantial body of the wine.

The second wine is a 2018 Melipal Ikella Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina.

Bold nose full of black cherry, violet, vanilla and clove. The palate is full and rich, with layers of ripe fruit and enough tannin to give it shape.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2018 Boom Boom! Syrah from Washington.

Aromas of fresh picked herbs and wet earth. Rich black cherry and tobacco are followed by hints of lavender on the long finish. This Syrah is truly the bomb!

First, SOHO will pour a 2019 Chemistry Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon.

This wine has a deep, glowing garnet color, and inviting aromatics of dark berries like boysenberry and black raspberry, earth, and baking spice. The wine is bright on the front palate showing initial flavors of cranberry that evolve to tart cherry and earth with structured tannins on mid-palate and finish.

The second wine is a 2018 Antigal Winery & Estates Uno Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina.

Delicious plums, strawberries, and blackberry flavors with enticing hints of violets, vanilla, and milk chocolate. Brightened by carefully protected natural acidity, this violet-red intense wine is surprisingly versatile at the dining table and pairs well with lamb, duck, beef as well as pasta and risotto.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2018 Unrated Xtra Cabernet from Central Valley, Chile.

Intense aromas of dark red berries, black fruits, and sweet tannins. This wine culminates in a bold, long, and enjoyable finish.

First, SOHO will pour a 2019 Paul Mas Saint Hilaire Vineyard Pinot Noir Reserve from Pays d’Oc, France.

Very elegant notes of red berries (strawberry and cherry) combined with soft spices and a hint of vanilla. Medium-bodied wine with ripe tannins and a well-balanced acidity.

The second wine is a 2019 Famille Perrin CĂ´tes du RhĂ´ne Nature from CĂ´tes du RhĂ´ne, France.

Beautiful colour of an intense deep-red with purple reflections. The nose is particularly expressive with aromas of fresh cherries, cinnamon and pepper. The palate is well balanced, with a lot of softness and elegant tannins.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2019 La Forge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from Pays d’Oc, France

Intense and full-bodied red berries, red pepper and tobacco notes with cocoa and spicy vanilla. A ripe, full-bodied wine.

First, SOHO will pour a 2018 Maison Louis Latour Domaine de Valmoissine from Provance, France.

The Pinot Noir from Domaine de Valmoissine has a ruby color and a complex nose with cocoa and ripe fruits from south of France, such as arbutus berry. The mouth is ample and round with silky tannins and undergrowth hints. Nice persistancy in the mouth.

The second wine is a 2019 Altos Las Hormigas Malbec Clasico from Mendoza, Argentina.

This wine displays a bright ruby red color, with lively violet hues. On the nose it is intense, showing notes of red fruits, strawberry and fresh plums. As the wine opens, it also shows mineral notes of graphite. On the palate it is fresh, very drinkable, with balanced acidity and supple tannins. The finish is long, fruity, and vertical.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2018 Castello Banfi Centine Toscana Red Blend from Tuscany, Italy.

Color : Intense ruby red.
Bouquet : Luscious berry and ripe cherry on the nose.
Taste : Hints of vanilla and fresh herbs on the palate. Soft tannins and great acidity balance out this enticing red.

First, SOHO will pour a 2019 Neyers ‘304’ Chardonnay from Sonoma County, CA.

The nished wine undergoes a slight malolactic fermentation and is lightly filtered at bottling. It has a refreshing natural crispness to it, along with a delicious citric element of lemon and lime. It finishes fresh and vibrant and is low in alcohol.

The second wine is a 2019 Bieler Pere & Fils La Jassine from CĂ´tes du RhĂ´ne, France.

Heaps of dark berry fruit, along with classic Provence garrigue notes (rosemary, thyme, sage), and a broad, rich and super textured palate. This wine boasts a density more akin to Châteauneuf-du-Pape than Côtes du Rhône.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2017 Finca Nueva Crianza from Rioja, Spain.

Aromas of dark berries and cherry and notes of vanilla and cola, this Rioja is complex and smooth. Blackberry and black cherry flavors lead to a spicy finish, a touch of mocha, and very good length (Fresh, Blackberry, Spice, Full-Bodied).

SOHO’s Executive Chef Todd Paige has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines:

Paired with: Steak Pane (Fried, Breaded Steak Cutlet), Mashed Potatoes, Gravy

2017 Finca Nueva Crianza

Paired with: Palomilla Steak Quesadilla, Jack Cheese, Avocado Cilantro Salsa

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $15. Or, pair the flight with a tapa plate for $21. Try a full glass of wine and tapa plate for $16. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($10/glass and $8/tapas)

Can’t make it to Flight Night on Wednesday? No worries! While our pairings debut on Wednesdays, they’re available through the following Tuesday, so you have all week to catch up on the featured wines and tapas.
