Cold? 🥶 We’ve got just what you need to warm up: 🍷3 fabulous red wines from Australia & New Zealand + DE-LICIOUS tapa pairings for Flight Night! Bundle up, because this week, we’re tackling the cold weather the best way we know how….
This Flight Night begins on Wednesday, November 13th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through November 19th.
“Colour: Intense dark ruby red. Aroma: Intensely lifted notes of blackberries and plums. Dried thyme and sweet, spicy oak aromas give this wine an intriguing nose and balances the fruit aromas nicely. Palate: Rich and full flavours of plums, dark forest berries and spice. Ripe and luscious, the fruit flavours are well framed by silky tannins, giving the wine structure and great length.”
Next, SOHO will pour a Penfolds Koonaga Hills Shiraz 2017 from Barossa Valley, South Australia. The wine is described by the winemaker,
“Red mulberry and raspberry coulis are immediately observed. Blueberry, bramble and earthy elements are offered with a little more encouragement. A steely and slatey texture surprises on the palate, being mentioned before fruit generosity. Tannins are sleek and supple and oak lies beneath spice and berries, almost providing the foundations for them to be layered on top of.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a Wirra Wirra Vineyards Church Block 2014 from South Australia. Notes on the wine,
“Dark red hues with medium intensity. Excellent cherry jam and Turkish Delight aromas. Also, some dark cherry, and a hint of sarsaparilla. The palate is deliciously fleshy, plush, supple and chocolatey, and the tannins are beautifully integrated into the fabric of the wine. This McLaren Vale blend does not disappoint. Top value.”
SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
