If anyone does wine and tapas pairings well, it’s SPAIN! This month at SOHO, we are honoring this amazing country and it’s culinary gifts with wines from our favorite Spanish vineyards, and Chef Joey’s creative spin on tapas pairings. We think we’ve done it justice; feel free to stop by and tell us if you agree!
This Flight Night begins on Wednesday, April 3rd, and the wines and their tapas will be available through April 9th.
First, SOHO will pour a Domini de la Cartoixa Priorat Crosses ‘15 from Priorat, California. The winemaker offers,
“Crossos is a wine with a cherry red colour of high intensity. Lovely aromas in which red and black fruits stand out; hints of balsamic, thyme, orange peel and species. Medium bodied and good intensity in the mouth, well balanced; where fruit and freshness are pleasantly expressed.”
Next, SOHO will pour a RK Rekaide Txacoli de Getaria 2016 from Txakoli de Getaria. The wine is described by the winemaker,
“Txakoli is a young, fruity white wine. Of moderate strength (11º) and with a slight characteristic acidity, it is a highly unique, distinctive wine. It should be served chilled; that way, it gives off its full range of aromas along with tiny carbonic acid bubbles, which is the result of its characteristic winemaking process.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a Bodegas Juan Gil Monastrell 2016 from the Jumilla. Notes on the wine,
“Deep purple/black color. Explosive aromas of ripe currant, red berries and smoked notes. Rich, powerful and voluminous on the attack, a huge mouthful of crème-de-cassis concentration, silken and juicy in the midpalate with excellent length and persistence,
and a long spicy well-balanced finish including toasted notes provided by the French
SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
