It went too quickly, as it always does….our tour of Italian wines ends this week at SOHO! We have shared our favorites with you, and you loved them as much as we do. But this last week is bittersweet, as we have to wait until next year to do it again, so enjoy our final week of Italian wines with us!
This Flight Night begins on Wednesday, February 27th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through March 4th.
First, SOHO will pour a Villadoria Barbaresco D.O.C.G. 2015 from Barbaresco, Piedmont. The winemaker offers,
“A traditional Barbaresco, it is garnet red in colour with ruby highlights, and has an ethereal nose with rose and violet, red fruit jam, raspberry and also vanilla, nutmeg, white pepper and aniseed aromas. It is full-bodied in the mouth, with tannins which never predominate, and is balanced and long lasting.”
Next, SOHO will pour a Bertani Ripasso D.O.C.G. 2016 from Valpolicella, Veneto. The wine is described by the winemaker,
“It has an intense purple-red colour with purplish highlights. On the nose it has a very clean and intense aroma of ripe red fruit with hints of dark fruit, such as bramble, black currant and ripe cherry. It is velvety and well-balanced, full and round while maintaining a lively and intense grip, with a sapid aftertaste.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a Alasia Barolo D.O.C.G. 2013 from Barolo, Piedmont. Notes on the wine,
“Color is ruby red with garnet hints. Aroma is dark plum, leather and delicate violet aromas. Palate is a full, firm and ripe red with rich, powerful flavours. All balanced by ripe tannins, complex savoury notes and a long finish.”
SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
