If you’re like us, you have a soft spot for Italy. Mainly, its food, wine, people, gorgeous views, etc….I mean, we could on, but let’s focus on the food and wine, shall we?
For the month of February, we’ll be sharing our favorite Italian wines for Flight Night and the following weeks! We think you’ll love our weekly picks, and the tapas that our Chef Joey has paired with them are perfect, and delicious. Since everyone needs a little getaway this time of year, a virtual vino trip through Italy’s vineyards are just you need!
This Flight Night begins on Wednesday, February 6th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through February 12th.
First, SOHO will pour a Feudo di San Gregorio Falanghina 2017 from Falanghina del Sannio DOC. The winemaker offers,
“The color is straw yellow that contains brilliant green reflections. The perfume is intense and persistent with sensations of delicate white flowers and fruit. The taste offers freshness and balance, with a clean finish.”
Next, SOHO will pour a Castello Colle Massari Rigoleto 2014 from Montecucco, Tuscany. The wine is described by the winemaker,
“An accessible red wine, with youthful energy. It is light in body with hints of soft but dense and meaty forest berry flavours. Hints of pepper, black cherry, thyme and cold smoke are also discernible. Is a quiescent and very balancing wine. Once poured, its fruity, enticing character is revealed. Best enjoyed young.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a Antinori Il Bruciato 2016 from Bolgheri, Tuscany. Notes on the wine,
“The 2016 Bruciato offers an intense ruby red color. On the nose, the aromas of ripe red berry fruit, sweet spices, and a light and fresh minty note are the most prominent sensations. The palate is well structured, persistent, and very pleasurable in its fruity finish and aftertaste.”
