This time of year in Atlanta seems to speed up as we appoach the end.  September FLEW by, and we had an extra week in there! A small break in the weather has made drinking these Pacific Northwest wines an absolute joy, and this week is even better, because of these GORGEOUS reds. Grab them while you still can, for next week is a new month with a new region…

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, September 26th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through October 2nd.

First, SOHO will pour a Panther Creek Pinot Noir 2016 from Willamette Valley, OR . The winemaker offers,

“Though it was an intense growing season due to the early start, the fruit produced throughout Oregon resulted in wonderful concentration and complexity with characteristic natural acidity. This wine showcases lots of strawberry and black cherry notes, with a hint of tobacco leaf. The finish is well balanced by elegant tannins, followed by a touch of black pepper and cranberry.”

Next, SOHO will pour a DLD Red Mountain Syrah 2013 from Red Mountain AVA, WA. .The wine is described by the winemaker,

“Dark purple, almost black color. Dried fig and blueberry compote. Chocolate cherry, black licorice and cinnamon spice. Just a hint smoke, leather and cocoa make for an interesting nose that you could smell for hours. The palate is rich and lush with flavors of earthy cocoa, blueberry pie and a pinch of cinnamon. The finish is long and very well structured.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Dusted Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 from Columbia Valley, WA. Notes on the wine,

“This is just a spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley! This medium bodied wine is both lithe and expressive, with embracing tannins wrapping gently around a focused core of dried herb-accented black cherry and licorice flavors, dancing with finesse on the finish.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

Pacific Northwest wines are the name of the September game at SOHO! What a fun region to explore as New World wines gain recognition.  With 500+ wineries available, it’s tough to pick only 12 to share with you this month, but we’re sure going to have a great time trying!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, September 12, and the wines and their tapas will be available through September 18th.

First, SOHO will pour a Trisaetum Pinot Noir 2015 from Willamette Valley, OR . The winemaker offers,

“This Pinot Noir is a combination of barrels from our three estate vineyards, representing the best AVAs of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Ruby garnet in color with striking aromas of freshly ground nutmeg, Marion-berry, and wood spices. The palate exudes grace with red fruit flavors that finish with a hint of toasted oak. The lively acidity is balanced by finely-textured tannins and a firm, long finish.”

Next, SOHO will pour a L’Ecole No. 41 Syrah 2015 from Columbia Valley. The wine is described by the winemaker,

“Dark, robust and spicy this full bodied Syrah shows rich flavors of black & blue berries, peppercorn, and licorice through an earthy finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Collusion Red Wine 2016 from Columbia Valley, WA. Notes on the wine,

“Garnet red in color, the wine opens with warm, sweet and inviting scents of blackberry jam, raspberry, forest floor, vanilla and cedar. The wine is very broad and open on the palate, with mingling flavors of fresh, ripe black cherry, restrained oak, vanilla and clove that continue well into the lingering finish. The luxurious mouthfeel provided by velvety, mature tannins assures that this wine will continue to improve in the bottle.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
