We came; we saw; we conquered Sonoma! We have one last week of these gorgeous wines, and we’re doing it up with three perfect reds to make your palate happy! The paired tapas are ridiculously tasty as well, so come hungry!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, August 29th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through September 4th.

First, SOHO will pour a Walt La Brisa Pinot Noir 2016 from Sonoma Coast. The winemaker offers,

“Vibrant ruby red in color, La Brisa Pinot Noir opens with hints of earth, crushed rose petals, and red fruits laced with a wild character. Strong flavors of crushed raspberry, cola, freshly turned soil, and tobacco linger on the palate. The texture is rich and leads into a warm finish with balanced oak and fresh minerality.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Gundlach Bundschu Mountain Cuvée 2016 from Sonoma County. The wine is described by the winemaker,

“Welcoming aromas of cherries, raspberries, warm vanilla, and a little cola lead to a medium bodied wine framed by soft tannins and lively acidity. The silky texture showcases layers of lush cassis and red fruit with savory cocoa powder revealed on the finish. Created for life’s sooner-rather-than-later enjoyments.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a B.R. Cohn Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 from Alexander Valley. Notes on the wine,

“A bold, rich Cabernet with aromas of cassis, black cherry, mint and violet combine with a bouquet of pungent oak, anise and warm vanilla. On the palate, lush cherry, caramel, and clove are wrapped in smooth tannins and a long juicy finish.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

Do you like Sonoma wines as much as we do? Great minds drink alike! The middle of August brings sweltering temps in Atlanta, but great wines to SOHO in Vinings, so enjoy a respite from the heat with us!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, August 22nd, and the wines and their tapas will be available through August 28th.

First, SOHO will pour a L’Oliveto Pinot Noir 2014 from Russian River Valley. The winemaker offers,

“The 2014 L’Oliveto Pinot Noir is deep garnet in color, the nose is full of loamy earth, rhubarb, cardamom and cocoa. The palate shows excellent weight with a core of red fruit enveloped in gamey earthiness that finishes with mouth watering dark berry notes.

Next, SOHO will pour a Sivas-Sonoma Zinfandel 2014 from Sonoma County. The wine is described by the winemaker,

“Our 2014 Sivas-Sonoma Old Vine Zinfandel offers aromas of black and rainbow peppercorns, coriander, over ripe raspberry and pomegranate jam. On the palate, this full-bodied wine features black cherry, black pepper and fruity baking cocoa and bittersweet chocolate. Our Zinfandel has a rich, juicy mouthfeel, long-lasting finish and is a perfect expression of an assertive but elegant wine.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Roth Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 from  Alexander Valley. Notes on the wine,

“Our 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is dark in color with complex aromas of black cherry, cassis, and dark chocolate. Rich and smooth on the palate, this Cabernet displays layered flavors of cherry, baking spices, black pepper, and sweet oak with a hint of chocolate. Supple tannins in this full-bodied Cabernet are beautifully accented by a balanced acidity that sets the stage for the bold, lengthy finish.”

We’re in the thick of Atlanta summer now, and weary from the heat. After long days of working and sitting in traffic, we need something to look forward to, and Sonoma wines are just the ticket! This week, we have a pinot noir, a merlot, and a beautiful red blend to share with you, to make your summer woes a little more palatable. Also, these 3 paired tapas are AMAZING, so if you’re not coming hungry, then you’re doing yourself a disservice!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, August 8th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through August 14th.

First, SOHO will pour a Banshee Pinot Noir 2016 from Sonoma County. The winemaker offers,

“The 2016 edition is an exciting, yet friendly wine, bursting at the seams with aromas of macerated wild berries and an elegant, soft earth undertone. The flavors combine both sweet and tart, reminiscent of Santa Rosa plums and wild blackberries that grow so commonly in Sonoma Wine Country. The finish is bright, slightly herbal, and savory making this an excellent food wine, as well as a charming drinking experience by itself.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Bench Knights Valley Merlot 2016 from Knights Valley. The wine is described by the winemaker,

“Brilliant ruby red hue, the nose is expressive with cherry cream, blackberry reduction and cedar. The palate is creamy and lush, flavors of pie crust, dark forest fruits and tangy Marion-berries meld together on a lasting, elegant finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Highway 12 Red Blend 2015 from Sonoma County. Notes on the wine,

“A fruity, leathery nose offers a glimpse into what unfolds on the palate. Hefty bright notes of ripe plum, currant jelly and a tinge of sweet tobacco fill the senses with the first sip. As this breathes, it morphs into something exceptionally smooth and round, a result of the introduction of soft tannins and lightly burnt toffee oak. The fig jam finish lingers but just long enough to go in for the next sip.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

Welcome back to the U.S. of A! We are so lucky to have the region of Sonoma in our country, and all the varietals of wine available to us.  Is one month really enough time to explore this fully? No, but we can have a great trying! We hope you love our Sonoma selections for the month of August, and their perfectly paired tapas from Chef Joe too.

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, August 2nd, and the wines and their tapas will be available through August 8th.

First, SOHO will pour a Mac Rostie Chardonnay 2015 from Sonoma Coast. The winemaker offers,

“The wine begins with a beautifully fragrant nose of pineapple, mango and guava. On the palate, the tropical fruit elements mingle with lively citrus layers as well as hints of spice from aging in French oak. The finish is clean, refreshing and quickly invites another taste.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Windracer Pinot Noir 2014 from Russian River. The wine is described by the winemaker,

“Aromas of dark cherry, mocha, and sassafras immediately introduces you to the bold personality of the Russian River Valley. The robust aromas give way to rich black plums followed by dark chocolate nuances. Perfectly balanced, the full-bodied structure displays great concentration and firm but refined tannins. This lush mouthfeel showcases the lively characteristics and quality the Russian River Valley is known for.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Knuttel Family Cabernet 2015 from Dry Creek Valley. Notes on the wine,

“Aromas of black cherry and ripe plum mesh with blackberry spice and violets. Flavors explode on the palate, with velvety tannins and elegant acidity seamlessly integrated into the finish. The balance of the wine makes it extremely versatile, pairing equally well with salads and cheeses as well as grilled vegetables and roasted red meats.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
