Is there anyone that doesn’t enjoy a good South American Carmenere, Cabernet, or Malbec? Not over here! We decided to feature one each of our favorites this week, (actually these two weeks!) and we think you’ll love them as much as we do.  Chef Joey has created some South American-inspired tapas that will tickle your taste buds too!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, June 26th, and the wines and their tapas will be available for two weeks, through July 3rd.

First, SOHO will pour a Ezzazuriz MAX Carmenere 2015 from Aconcagua Valley, Chile. The winemaker offers,

“The 2015 vintage of our Max Reserva Carmenere displays a beautiful ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of red roasted pepper, tobacco, dill, and mushrooms are complimented by a subtle note of blackberries and cherries. On the palate, the wine shows fresh and delicate flavors of cherry and plum complimented by a touch of spice, chocolate and roasted coffee beans. The wine is well balanced with mouth-watering acidity and round, soft tannins.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Piatelli Premium Reserve Malbec 2016 from Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is described by the winemaker,

“Intensely aromatic on the nose. Aromas of blueberries, plums, & blackberries. Extremely well balanced fruit to acidity balance. This is a medium to heavy weight wine. Mouth-filling, and smooth finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Haras de Pirque Character Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 from Maipo Valley, Chile. Notes on the wine,

“Currant, raspberry, and some forest floor in the nose, also an herbaceous/minty quality.  Dark berries on the palate; and a nice soft mouthfeel with good body and tannic structure. Had a good, lasting finish with spice and more herbs, and mild oakiness throughout.

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

Haras de Pirque Character Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Get ready for Tannat from Uruguay…it’s the next big thing! SOHO is bringing the best to you in Atlanta, and we’re excited to share these gems with you.

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, June 6th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through June 12th.

Adios May! Anyone else think that this month went WAY too quickly? Fortunately, we have five weeks in May to feature our Napa wines for Flight Night, so you get an extra serving of all those good California grapes! In true SOHO fashion, we have saved three outstanding reds to finish out the month.  See you next year, Napa!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, May 30th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through June 5th.

Trefethen-cabernet-and-O-K-D-Five

First, SOHO will pour a Conn Creek Herrick Red 2013 from Napa Valley. The winemaker offers,

“Bold red and black berries cradle vanilla and floral accents. The berries unfold on the palate into notes of tapenade and espresso powder, finishing with boisterous tannins.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Flora Springs Merlot 2013 from Napa. The wine is described by the winemaker,

“The 2014 vintage unfolds with inviting aromas of dark plum and black cherry and hints of cardamom, nutmeg and cinnamon spice. In the mouth the deep purple fruit flavors unfurl on a richly textured palate, joined by notes of sassafras, baked pie crust and dusty cocoa. A judicious touch of oak adds a toasty vanilla accent to the wine, and its long finish carries a tinge of sweet tobacco and dark chocolate.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Trefethen Oak Knoll Cabernet 2015 from Napa. Notes on the wine,

“Deep ruby in color, this exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon opens with fragrant notes of blackberry, bay leaf, coffee and chocolate. The palate is supported by velvety tannins and features flavors that tend more towards red cherries and baking spices.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
