Will you choose Merlot, Pinot Noir, or a red blend first? With this week’s three wine choices from Napa, this is tough decision! Fortunately, our flight of wines is the perfect opportunity to try them all, and then decide which is your favorite. It doesn’t hurt that we have three amazing tapas created by Chef Joey to keep you happy as well! Your evenings just got a lot more fun, so come us see us….
This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, May 16th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through May 22nd .
First, SOHO will pour a Clos Pegase Pinot Noir 2014 from Napa Valley. The winemaker offers,
“Our 2014 Pinot Noir has deep complex aromas of red cherries, cranberries, raspberries and strawberries accented by dried shiitake mushrooms, Darjeeling tea, orchids, sweet spices and wisps of incense.”
Next, SOHO will pour a Franciscan Estate Merlot 2014 from Napa. The wine is described by the winemaker,
“Deep scarlet in color. Aromas of blackberry, and ripe cherry liquor lend a dark fruit aroma to this wine, followed by more complex layers of cedar, black pepper, and freshly cut hay. The pallet has finely knit tannins with notes of black cherry and sweet herbs. The long finish leaves hints of dark coca on the palate.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a Hoopla “The Mutt” 2014 from Napa. Notes on the wine,
“This wine has a deep brick red color with dark red edges. The aromas jump out of the glass conveying concentrated fruit, extended barrel aging in French oak. Intense boysenberry and cinnamon spices upfront are backed by vanilla and brown sugar notes. The palate is rich with ripe cherry, plum and sandalwood and finish with dry tannins. The grapes come from Rutherford in the heart of the Napa and it is comprised of Merlot, Malbec, Petite Verdot and Cabernet.”
SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
