What’s so great about Napa and its wines? So much!  There are presently 16 subregions within Napa Valley including 2 that overlap into Sonoma and Solano Counties, which gives the wine enthusiast so many drinkable choices!  You can find Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, & Charbono.  In the white variety-Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Muscat, & Viognier. Where’s a good wine drinker to start? Well, at SOHO, for starters!

Join us in the month of May for Napa wines that we love.  This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, May 9th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through May 15th .

First, SOHO will pour a Stags Leap Chardonnay 2016 from Napa. The winemaker offers,

“The inviting bouquet expresses aromas of creamy lemon meringue, tropical pineapple, delicate elderflower and hints of raw almond nuttiness which fill the glass and pique your interest in this crisp Chardonnay. On the palate, you’ll find a classic refreshing Chardonnay with a vibrancy of tropical fruit notes that transition into lemon curd and meringue while also maintaining a roundness in texture that is balanced.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Frog’s Leap Zinfandel 2016 from Napa. The wine is described by the winemaker,

“Lush fruit, deep purplely color, mouth-filling flavors, perfect balance, remarkable drinkability…need I go on? Yes, pour it with pride for your next preparation of osso buco. But, please, please try to put some in the far reaches of your cellar…you will thank me later.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Scholar & Mason Cabernet 2015 from Napa. Notes on the wine,

“Aromatically expressive with notes of dark cherries, ripe plum, menthol and pencil shavings. The structure is supple and generous with long, elegant tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is concentrated with currant, dark forest fruit, charcuterie and cedar spice.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
