Spanish reds are the name of the game this week, and boy, do we have three good ones for you! These intense vinos are perfectly paired with Chef Joey’s tapas picks, and we couldn’t be happier with the results!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday, April 11th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through April 17th.

First, SOHO will pour a Bodega Bernabeleva Camino de Navaherreros 2015 from San Martín de Valdeiglesias. The winemaker offers,

“The intensely floral bouquet offers aromas of strawberry, raspberry, rose, magnolia and Asian spices; similar to a rustic Pinot Noir, but the body an weight is very much old vine Grenache.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Volver Tarima Hill Old Vines Monastrell 2015 from La Mancha. The wine is described by the winemaker,

“This red shows grace and depth. Black cherry, plum, mineral and smoke flavors mingle harmoniously over well integrated tannins, while lively acidity keeps this focused. Not showy, but all the pieces fit together. Balanced, in the modern style.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Hacianda De Arinzano 2011 from Pago de Arinzano. Notes on the wine,

“Deep garnet red color. Intense aromas of black fruit, notes of cinnamon, smoky notes, roasted coffee and licorice. On the palate is a smooth and silky attack, very well balanced, high persistence to black fruits. Very long and powerful finish. A very elegant and refined wine. Silky wine with good structure. A very slow evolution in the bottle.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
