As February draws to a close, we are finishing our tour of Italian wines and flavors. So stop by soon and enjoy fabulous wines paired with Chef Joey’s delicious tapas.
This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday February 28th and the wines and their tapas will be available through March 6. Buon appetito!
First, SOHO will pour a Pieropan Soave Classico 2016 from Soave Classico, Veneto, and shares the following tasting notes,
“Brilliant yellow straw in hue with a greenish tint, the wine opens with nuanced aromas reminiscent of almond blossoms, marzipan, white peach and honeysuckle. On the juicy palate, crisp acidity frames flavors of toasted nuts, lemon zest, pomme fruits and apricot. Exceptionally balanced, the wine concludes with a lingering finish that offers both length and concentration, wrapping up with delicious notes of honeycomb and marzipan, energetic minerality, and a creamy lift.”
Next, SOHO will pour a G.D. Vajra Nebiolo Lange 2015 from Lange, Piedmont. The wine is described as,
“Ruby bright red and delicate color. Intense notes of violet and Fanee rose, accompanied by the freshness of small red fruits. Silky tannins cover the palate with personality and energy.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a Piccini Brunello di Montalcino 2012 from Montalcino, Tuscany. The winemaker notes,
“This wine plays its cards close to its chest and reveals aromas of wild berry, cherry cola, grilled herb and toasted almond. The bouquet is not too intense. The wine is refine in large oak casks for two years. The quality of the tannins is not totally smooth, but this is a common trait in Brunellos from this vintage.”
SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
