Italy. What can we say? We love it! The food, the wine, the people; all of it. Especially the wine though, because let’s be serious, a month is not nearly enough time to explore all the amazing wine regions and what they have to offer. You know we’re trying to bring you as many of our favorites as possible, right?
This week is a fun one, and we hope you’ll join us for our wine and tapas pairings that are going to make you swoon with happiness! This week’s Flight Night begins on Thursday February 15, and the wines and their tapas will be available through February 20th. Buon appetito!
First, SOHO will pour a Pico Maccario Tre Roveri Barbera D’Asti 2015 from Asti, Piedmont, and offers the following tasting notes,
“Tre Roveri shows an intensity, depth and level of complexity that can only be achieved with old vines. Ripe red cherry fruit is accented with layers of wild herbs, leather and truffle. Wood aging lends flavors of cedar, sweet spices and tobacco. Moderate weight and gentle tannins make Tre Roveri a versatile wine for the table.”
Next, SOHO will pour a Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso 2016 from Etna, Sicily. The wine is described as,
“Color: ruby red. Nose: ripe fruits and sweet spices. Flavor: fresh, fine balanced and rich, very elegant .”
Finally, SOHO will pour a Tua Rita Rosso dei Notri Toscana 2015 from Tuscany. The winemaker says,
“Deep ruby red in color, with aromas of black fruits, namely blackberries, plums and ripe black cherries over more subtle notes of cocoa, licorice and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is smooth, with silky tannins and bracing acidity, showing structural balance long into the finish.”
SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
