Cabernet…you know you love it! Sometimes there’s nothing better than a big, satisfying glass of Cab to warm you up on a cold winter’s day.  The good news?  SOHO has three pleasing Cabs for you this week, perfectly paired with Chef Joey’s hearty tapas.  It may be cold and dreary outside, but we’ll make sure you’re warm and cozy (with a full belly) when you come see us!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday January 31st, and the wines and their tapas will be available through February 6th.

Jan Week 5-page-001

First, SOHO will pour a Treana Red 2014 from Paso Robles, and offers the following tasting notes,

“The 2014 Treana Red has an opaque, inky-black color with a ruby-black rim. Bold fruit aromas of dried black currant, blackberry pie filling and pomegranate combine with lavender, menthol and leather. Undertones of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, sweet cinnamon and a hint of smoke add to the complexity of this blend.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Knuttel Family Cabernet Sauvignon “Sebastian’s Infinite Limits” 2013 from Dry Creek Valley. The wine is described as,

“Aromas of black cherry and ripe plum mesh with blackberry spice and violets. Flavors explode on the palate, with velvety tannins and elegant acidity seamlessly integrated into the finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Quilt Napa Valley Cabernet 2015 from Napa Valley.  The winemaker says,

“COLOR: Dark red with purple hues. AROMAS: A seamless blend of crème de cassis, hazelnut, cocoa, blackberry preserves, charred meat, and blackberry pie along with hints of dark licorice, stewed rhubarb, strawberry, spice and vanillin. PALATE: Rich and satisfying with dark chocolate, yogurt, molasses, brown sugar and rhubarb notes presented in perfect balance with higher toned fruit emphasis.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

Treana Red 2014
75% Cabernet, 25% Syrah
Paired with: Short Rib Stuffed Piquillo Peppers, Espresso Demi

Knuttel Family Cabernet Sauvignon “Sebastian’s Infinite Limits” 2013
Cabernet, Merlot, Malbec
Paired with: Roasted Beef Meatballs, Grilled Zucchini Noodles, Cab Butter

Quilt Napa Valley Cabernet 2015
Merlot, Sangiovese
Paired with: Lamb Wellington, Cauliflower Puree, Green Peppercorn Sauce

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $14.25. Or, pair the flight with a tapa plate for $19. Try a full glass of wine and tapa plate for $13. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9.50/glass and $6.50/tapas)

We can’t wait to see you!

What do you do when you have the opportunity to savor some big, elegant Sangiovese? Take it! We have three this week that must be tried, and some hearty tapas that stand up to the challenge of a perfect pairing.  We even have wild boar on the menu this week, as we love to dabble in game (have you tried our famous Elk Tenderloin?) If you’re curious, it merits a trip to come see us!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday January 24th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through January 30th.

Jan Week 4-page-001.jpg

First, SOHO will pour a Borgo Scopeto Chianti Classico 2014 from Chianti, Tuscany, and offers the following tasting notes,

“COLOR: Charged ruby. BOUQUET: ample and intense, but also sweetly fruity, wild berry fruit supported by pleasant noble wood, vanilla, and cocoa, and a surprising cherry finish. PALATE: dry and well structured, austere and elegant, harmonious, and with ex-
cellent persistence.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Altesino Rosso di Altesino 2014 from Montalcino, Italy. The wine is described as,

“Brilliant ruby-red color, this classic Rosso offers sumptuous aromas of ripened blackberries and dark cherries. On the palate, the wine is generously well-
rounded and rich with fruit forward notes complimented by hints of leather and mesquite.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a  Lucente 2015 from the Montalcino, Italy.  The winemaker says,

“Lucente 2013 displays a vibrant purple-red colour. Its rich, intense bouquet releases black cherry and wild berry, enriched with fascinating notes of pungent spice. The palate is smooth, with fine-grained tannins and an underlying impression of crisp balsam. Overall, this wine is complex, forceful, and elegant.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

Borgo Scopeto Chianti Classico 2014
At least 80% Sangiovese
Paired with: Short Rib Arancini, Chorizo Tomato Sauce

Altesino Rosso di Altesino 2014
100% Sangiovese Grosso
Paired with: Wild Boar Bolognaise, Tagliatelle Pasta

Lucente 2015

It’s not often that we have to close for snow in Atlanta, so it was a surprise when a winter storm rolled through, with roughly 3 inches of snow and ice! Sadly, we had to postpone Flight Night until Thursday, but all is good, because we’ve got some fabulous red varietals to feature this week, perfectly paired with Chef Joe’s tasty tapas. We do love a good blend, so we’re celebrating with these G.S.M.’s that both stand alone, or pair well with food.  Shake off your cold comas and come warm up with us!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday January 17th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through January 23rd.

Jan Week 3-page-001.jpg

First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Gerard Bertrand Corbières from Southern France, and offers the following tasting notes,

“A deep, concentrated colour. The complex aromas of black fruit come from the carefully controlled extraction during vinification and from the exceptional ripeness of the grapes. A wine of distinctive character with all the flavours of ripe fruit, with subtle hints of spices and liquorice. Its full, fat body lends it a remarkable elegance.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2014 Yalumba “The Strapper” from Barosssa Valley, AU. The wine is described as,

“This is a highly aromatic GSM, exhibiting aromas of raspberries, menthol, smoky BBQ notes and hints of strawberry leaf. The palate is just as alluring with red berry flavours, cinnamon spice, a juicy mid palate and lovely ferrous like tannins.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2014 Laurent Miquel Père & Fils Syrah-Grenache from the Pyd d’Oc, France.  The winemaker says,

“Typical Southern French blend with dominant spicy Syrah and juicy full Grenache. This wine offers a ripe nose of red fruits, with delicious mocha herbs and spices. The palate is mellow with intense berry flavour and characteristic rosemary, thyme and floral notes. A real taste of the garrigue.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

2014 Gerard Bertrand Corbières
Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre
Paired with: Finocchiona Flatbread, Arugula, Piquillo, Pickled Shallot, Shaved Toma

2014 Yalumba “The Strapper”
Grenache, Syrah, Mataro
Paired with: BBQ Duck Sliders, Drunken Goat Cheese Sauce, House Pickles

2014 Laurent Miquel Père & Fils Syrah-Grenache
70% Syrah, 30% Grenache
Paired with: Prime Beef Carpaccio, Grated Fiore Sardo, Cherry-Espresso Reduction

We continue our love affair with Red Varietals this week, with three bold Malbecs that pair beautifully with our Chef’s specially prepared tapas! Expect for your pallet to experience the regions of Mendoza, Argentina, and Cahora, France, with three vineyards known for their exceptional grapes. We look forward to sharing some wine with you, and we hope you do too!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday January 10th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through January 16th.

Jan Week 2-page-001

First, SOHO will pour a 2015 Pascual Toso Rese Malbec from Maipu, Mendoza, and offers the following tasting notes,

“Fairly round and inviting, this wine is slightly firm around the edges with plenty of fruit and consistent tannins.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2015 Clos La Coutale Cahors from Cahors, France. The wine is described as,

“Today, the blend consists of 80% Malbec and 20% Merlot, creating an intense wine that juggles elegant rusticity with everyday drinkability. Coutale has quite a record of age-worthiness as well and is not afraid to pull out older vintages of his wines alongside much more expensive Bordeaux. They stand up pretty well!”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2014 Bodega Catena Zapata from the Santa Rita Hills.  The winemaker says,

“The nose offers ripe, concentrated dark and red fruit aromas with delicate floral notes of lavender and violet, and mocha. The mouthfeel is rich and full with notes of sweet spice and a touch of leather. The finish presents soft, well-integrated tannins with bright, crisp acidity that gives the wine exceptional length.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

2015 Pascual Toso Rese Malbec
100% Malbec
Paired with: Tagliatelle Pasta, Prime Sirloin, Roasted Mushroom and Onion, Malbec Butter

2015 Clos La Coutale Cahors

Paired with: Seared Duck Breast, Sweet Potato-Andouille Hash, Balsamic-Maple Gastrique

2014 Bodega Catena Zapata
100% Malbec
Paired with: Grilled Pork Loin Skewers, Malbec Aioli

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $14.25. Or, pair the flight with a tapa plate for $19. Try a full glass of wine and tapa plate for $13. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9.50/glass and $6.50/tapas)

Happy New Year from all of us at SOHO!  We are so excited to kick off 2018 with you, and we have so many fun things planned for this year! Starting off, it’s freezing (literally) in Atlanta, but what’s the best thing you can do when it’s cold and dreary?  Drink red wine! So for January, we’re featuring red varietals, which is perfectly paired with our Chef’s tapas.  We’re all in this together, so let’s drink some wine, eat some delicious food, and toast to an amazing 2018!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday January 3rd, and the wines and their tapas will be available through January 9th.

Flight Jan Week 1-page-001.jpg

First, SOHO will pour a 2015 Trisaetum Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, and offers the following tasting notes,

“Ruby garnet in color with a striking aroma of freshly ground nutmeg, Marion berry, and wood spices. The palate exudes grace with red fruit flavors that finish with a hint of toasted oak. The lively acidity is balanced by finely-textured tannins and a firm, long finish.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2014 Martinelli Bella Vigna Pinot Noir from Russian River. The wine is described as,

“The 2014 Bella Vigna Pinot Noir is sure to become your go-to wine. This approachable wine is bright and fresh, with wonderful aromas of plum, red apple and hibiscus tea. Flavors include juicy cherry pie, currants and hints of cinnamon and vanilla.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 SRH Pinot Noir from the Santa Rita Hills.  The winemaker says,

“Brimming with high-toned, youthful aromatics, the 2013 SRH Pinot Noir leads with crunchy red fruits of pomegranate, wild strawberry, and raspberry. The exuberantly fruited nose is undergirded with orange zest, black tea, tea rose, and faint hints of clove and spice. The bright, vivacious palate carries a taut mineral streak through to a lengthy finish lifting the red fruit notes with a whisper of anise.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

2015 Trisaetum Pinot Noir
100% Pinot Noir
Paired with: Pan Roasted Meatball, Mole Rojo, Jasmine Rice

2014 Martinelli Bella Vigna Pinot Noir
100% Pinot Noir
Paired with: Grilled Lamb Tenderloin, Roasted Fingerlings, Pinot Butter

2013 SRH Pinot Noir
