It’s just before Christmas, and we’re having the BEST time in the restaurant!  We’re honoring your favorite wines and their tapas pairings until the end of the year, so come enjoy them for the second and final time!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday December 20th, and the wines and their tapas will be available for two weeks through January 2nd.

December Week 4 and 5-page-001.jpg

First, SOHO will pour a 2013 Monticello Vineyards Merlot from Oak Knoll, Napa Valley, and offers the following tasting notes,

This wine displays a nice deep garnet tone. The aromas are full and bright, with a lively beam of acidity and an appealing hint of lightly toasted oak, slight spice and vanilla. On the palate the wine is full bodied with a modest attack. The supple flavors are of classic red fruits.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2007 Chianti Classico Il Brunone Riserva DOCG from Chianti Classico. The wine is described as,

“A wine with a deep ruby red colour; the impact on the nose is complex, intense and long with typical sweet violet and black berry fragrance. In the mouth, it is a full body, harsh, with well-balanced tannins wine. A broad complex of aromas enriched by just a hint of toasty oak. Overall, a beautifully harmonious wine.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2016 Daou Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles.  The winemaker says,

“Smooth, yet robust aromas of blackberry, black currant, and blueberries are infused with sage, dried herbs, espresso bean, and dark chocolate.  Secondary aromas of hints of cigar box and vanilla fill the nose. Bold and full-bodied on the palate, this wine offers flavors of dark cherry and cassis with subtle mocha and truffle nuances. A firm but smooth texture of pure blackberry fruit and coffee brings this balanced wine a well-rounded finish backed by a great tannin structure.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

2013 Monticello Vineyards Merlot
94% Merlot, 6% Cab Franc
Paired with: Steak Skewers, Guajillo-Raspberry Jam

2007 Chianti Classico Il Brunone Riserva DOCG
95% Sangiovese 5% Canaiolo
Paired with: Tagliatelle Short Rib Pasta, Onions, Red Wine Butter

2016 Daou Cabernet Sauvignon
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Paired with: Fried Mozzarella, Tomato Jam

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $14.25. Or, pair the flight with a tapa plate for $19. Try a full glass of wine and tapa plate for $13. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9.50/glass and $6.50/tapas)

Happy Holidays to you all!

Two weeks to the end of the year. Yikes! While time is certainly flying, we are enjoying revisiting the guest favorites of 2017.  It’s fun to look back on the year and reflect how lucky we are to live in such a great city, with cherished family, friends, and guests that we have the pleasure of seeing on a regular basis.  We are looking forward to an even better 2018!

These wines and tapas were the most popular this year, so enjoy their encore.  This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday December 13th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through December 19th.

First, SOHO will pour a 2013 Piazzo Barbaresco DOCG from Piedmont, Italy, and offers the following tasting notes,

“Color: Deep garnet red with a slight orange hue. Bouquet: An aristocratic nose of red fruit jam, withered violets and geraniums, with hints of cinnamon and green pepper. Taste: A warm, dry, and full-bodied palate packed with structure; a long aromatic finish.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2015 K Milbrandt Syrah from Wahluke Slope. The wine is described as,

“Shimmering, this wine is alive with energy. Vibrant aromatics, red and black fruits and heaps of minerality on a long focused finish. Great today, great in ten years, the Great Milbrandt!”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2015 Trig Point Cab Sauv Diamond Dust Vineyard from Alexander Valley.  The winemaker says,

“Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, spice and licorice. Black currant and cherry flavors are accented with sage and dark chocolate. Full-bodied on the palate, this vintage shows subtle espresso bean and mocha notes in a soft, supple finish.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

As the end of this wonderful year approaches, we look back on what YOU loved the most: Flight Nights in December will feature our Guest’s Favorites of 2017! 🙌  Please join us this month for a second chance at those wines & tapas pairings you enjoyed so much earlier in the year!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday December 6th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through December 12th.

First, SOHO will pour a 2015 Patricia Green Reserve Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley,, and offers the following tasting notes,

“The Reserve program has evolved from an every-so-often produced bottling to the mainstay of our production. It allows us to use barrels from our vineyard designated sites that we think don’t represent what we think that site’s profile truly is.  Sometimes that is based on vine age, clonal material or location within the site. This allows
us to create a blended wine that has a degree of consistency to it each vintage that is of high quality and will retail for $27.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2015 Conreria D’Scala Dei Black Slate Escaladei from Priorat, Spain. The wine is described as,

“ ..the wine comes through as very fresh with some spiciness, nothing heavy or
oaky about it. The tannins are silky, and the texture is very elegant. It feels young and elegant like a Pinot Noir from the south. This is an elegant Priorat for those who avoid the dark, concentrated, powerful wines and who appreciate more the elegant side of a
Mediterranean red.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Worthy Sophia’s Cuvee Cabernet from Napa Valley.  The winemaker says,

“… aromas of red currants and blackberries deepened by notes of violets, loose tobacco, forest floor and raw cedar. The seamless palate of wild cherries, raspberries and black currants unveils a spicy layer of Bay leaf, cinnamon, anise and mint that give lift to an elegantly balanced finish of subtle, fine-grained tannins enlivened by refreshing acidity.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zalinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

2015 Patricia Green Reserve Pinot Noir
100% Pinot Noir
Paired with: Tempura Fried Pork Confit, Pinot Noir BBQ Sauce

2015 Conreria D’Scala Dei Black Slate Escaladei
Garnatxa Negra, Carinyena
Paired with: Short Rib Stuffed Piquillo, Soho Steak Sauce

2011 Worthy Sophia’s Cuvee Cabernet
92% Cabernet, 5% Cab Franc, 3% Petite Verdot
Paired with: Grilled Prime Sirloin, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Cab Butter

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $14.25. Or, pair the flight with a tapa plate for $19. Try a full glass of wine and tapa plate for $13. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9.50/glass and $6.50/tapas)

Happy Holidays to you all!
