For October, we’re switching things up a bit: we’ve picked 3 very different wines to pair with a particular type of food to explore the versatility of wine!  This week, you can enjoy these very different, very delightful wines with Chef Joey’s incredible pork tapas.

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday October 4th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through October 10th.

Oct week 1 tapas

First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Delas Freres Crozes Hermitage from Crozes-Hermitage, and offers the following tasting notes,

“Alluring aromas of ripe pears, tropical fruit, peach blossoms, and zesty lemon complement the 2015 vintage’s mouth-filling and rounded texture. A beautifulexpression of 158 years of Gewürztraminer expertise, this pairs with everything from Asian cuisine, to Thanksgiving turkey, to a sunny afternoon.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2015 Gundlach Bundschu Gewürztraminer from Sonoma Coast. The wine is described as,

“Persistent body, flavors of red ripe fruit, nose has a balsamic, vegetal mouthfeel.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2014 Rubbia al Colle “Rabuccolo” from Tuscany, Italy.  The winemaker says,

“The wine has a deep garnet red color. It is fruity on the nose with strong aromas of cassis, plums and a touch of violets. The tannic structure is ample and well-rounded, which assures good aging potential.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joe Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
