This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday May 24th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through May 30th.

First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Artesa Pinot Noir from Carneros, Napa Valley, and offers the following tasting notes,

“On the nose, this wine offers beautiful, bright aromas of black cherry, plum and a hint of rose petal and violet aromas.  On the palate, lush red and blue fruit flavors are accentuated with hints of spice and earth. The natural acidity gives vibrancy and it is an excellent partner to so many foods; it is medium bodied and has a long finish. A classic Pinot Noir that is true to its appellation.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.  The wine is described as,

“.. Malolactic fermentation in barrel, combined with 18 months aging in French oak (66% new), further concentrated the wine’s rich cassis and blackberry cobbler flavors, adding subtle nuances of torched crème brûlée.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2014 Round Pond Estate “Kith & Kin” Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaker says,

“…this wine jumps out of the glass with aromas of candied cherries, cassis and strawberries with vanilla cream. The supple entry opens brightly with intense sweet fresh fruit of blackberry and boysenberry. Softening through the mid-palate, fleshy red fruits of black cherry and rhubarb add a layer of complexity to this classic Napa Valley Cabernet. Notes of toasted nuts and tobacco follow, all with a harmonious mingling of smooth tannins and a lingering finish that will leave you wanting more.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

2014 Artesa Pinot Noir
100% Pinot Noir
Paired with: Short Rib Stuffed Mushrooms, Blueberry-sherry Vinegar Marmalade

2013 Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon
79% Cabernet, 8% Petite Sirah, 5% Petit Verdot, 4.5% Syrah, 2% Zin, 1.5% Merlot
Paired with: Seared Duck Breast, Roasted Red Potato, Emblem Butter

82% Cabernet, 13% Petit Verdot, 3% Petite Sirah, 2% Malbec
Paired with: Braised Pork Belly, Garlic Dulce de Leche, Strawberry Pico

May is such a beautiful time of year in Atlanta; everyone sits outside on patios because the weather is nice, and not terribly hot (yet).  It’s a great time to be catching up with friends and family, sharing wine and stories, and planning for Summer!

At SOHO, we capture some of that comeraderie by celebrating the spirit of different global wine regions, and we are having SUCH a great time celebrating Napa Valley! Come see us, get a glass of wine, and sit for a spell.  You won’t regret it!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday May 17th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through May 23rd.

First, SOHO will pour a 2015 Ramspeck Pinot Noir from Carneros, Napa Valley, and offers the following tasting notes,

“Aromas of intense candied berry fruits -a medley of luscious ripe strawberries and black berries with spice and earth tones. A silky mouth-feel follows the delicious cherry/raspberry flavors and the finish is generous. This is classic Burgundian in style.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2014 Tamber Bey Cabernet Sauvignon from Yountville, Napa Valley.  The wine is described as,

“Deep cassis and black cherry dominate the nose, with secondary aromas of crushed stones and light blond tobacco. A sweet burst of black fruit introduces the mouth, followed by notes of blackberry sauce and cassis, with a touch of sweet vanilla. The finish delivers dark stone fruit, with an earthy note and a hint of coffee bean.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Worthy Sophia’s Cuvee Cabernet. The winemaker says,

“… aromas of red currants and blackberries deepened by notes of violets, loose tobacco, forest floor and raw cedar. The seamless palate of wild cherries, raspberries and black currants unveils a spicy layer of Bay leaf, cinnamon, anise and mint that give lift to an elegantly balanced finish of subtle, fine-grained tannins that are enlivened by refreshing acidity.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

Right about the middle of the week, I think we all need a little mental vacation.  We don’t know about you, but this view of Napa Valley is seriously invoking some wanderlust! Can we just sit, have a sip and a nibble, and catch up in the sun for a while?

As we continue into May, SOHO celebrates the beautiful wines of Napa Valley, California, and comes up with some seriously delicious tapas to be paired with them!  We hope that we get so see you sometime with this week; don’t worry, we’ll be here.

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday May 10th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through May 16th.

First, SOHO will pour a 2015 Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc and offers the following tasting notes,

“With a pale gold hue, the 2015 vintage opens on the nose with the fresh, light scents of melon and white peach. A flintiness comes through on the palate—evoking the impression of a first summer rain—and an initial tartness carries throughout. Delicate flavors, along with the wine’s minerality, build toward a lingering finish, crisp and dry and calling you back for another refreshing sip.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 The Shepherd Estate Red.  The wine is described as,

“An intriguing nose of blackberry and red currants; with a touch of vanilla and cedar. The mouth is filled with juicy flavors of cassis, boysenberry, cherry and plum jam. Round tannins provide an opulent finish or red fruit and spice.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2014 Textbook Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaker says,

“Vintage 2014 followed the excellent 2012 and 2013 and led to debates as to which vintage was “better”. Our sense is they are all very, very nhigh quality; had abundant sunshine, cool evenings and a dry harvest season. The even weather patterns in late September allowed the Cabernet Sauvignon harvest to occur at a more relaxed pace, which is good for high-quality wine-making. While fermenting, our 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon lots were deeply colored, richly textured and thus showed great promise.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

2015 Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc
Sauvignon Blanc
Paired with: Salmon Ceviche- Grapefruit, Melon, Peach Pico de Gallo

2013 The Shepherd Estate Red
Syrah, Zinfandel, Tempranillo
Paired with: Grilled Lamb Tenderloin- Purple Potato and Piquillo Hash, “Estate Red” Wine Reduction

2014 Textbook Cabernet Sauvignon
88% Cabernet, 12% Merlot
Paired with: Pork Confit Croquettes- Red Eye Gravy

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $14.25. Or, pair the flight with a tapa plate for $19. Try a full glass of wine and tapa plate for $13. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9.50/glass and $6.50/tapas).

No argument here: Napa Valley is just pure FUN!  You can’t beat the great wine, fantastic food, and beautiful views from over 500 wineries in this 30 mile long valley.  Aside from being known for its Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, you will find many different varieties of wines that make up this wine drinker’s utopia!

For the month of May, SOHO is featuring the shining stars of Napa Valley, California. Chef Joey Zelinka creates some delectable tapas to pair with the wines, and we are certain that you’ll enjoy every. single. one. of them!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday May 3rd, and the wines and their tapas will be available through May 9th.

First, SOHO will pour a 2015 Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc, and offers the following tasting notes,

“As with Robert Mondavi’s very first vintage of this innovative style of sauvignon blanc, our 2015 Fumé Blanc adds rich layers of fruit to sauvignon blanc’s mouthwatering freshness. Lemon crème, vine-ripened white peach and guava are joined by a subtle yet intriguing hint of ginger on a creamy wave of flavor.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Swanson Cygnet Merlot.  The wine is described as,

“2012 was a warm vintage, which is reflected in the depth of flavor and generous mouth feel of this wine. Deep purple-hued red color, and an array of black fruits more commonly associated with Cabernet lead to a mouthful of velvety, ripe tannins. Lingering notes of cocoa, clove and black cherry echo long after the wine is swallowed.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2012 Atalon Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaker says,

“The 2012 Atalon Cabernet Sauvignon is opaque dark ruby in color. Flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and black currant lead into cocoa powder, spice, and integrated oak nuances. The wine has great depth and a richness to the black fruit flavors. The mouthfeel is soft and velvety, with a lengthy finish highlighted by refined tannins .”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!

2015 Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc
96 % Sauvignon Blanc 4 % Semillon
Paired with: Tuna Ceviche with Tangerine, Shaved Pear, Fennel

2012 Swanson Cygnet Merlot
83% Merlot, 10% Cabernet, 7% Petit Verdot
Paired with: Duck Confit Wontons, Cherry-Soy Sauce

2012 Atalon Cabernet Sauvignon
94% Cabernet, 6% Merlot
Paired with: Prime Beef Carpaccio, Manchego, Atalon Aioli
