April’s Flight Nights feature wine from Spain! What fun we will have with this month’s lineup at SOHO! Be sure to come by to try some different types of wines that you won’t find in other places….
This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday April 5th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through April 11th.
First, SOHO will pour a 2015 Pazo Barrantes Albarino from Rias Baixes, and offers the following tasting notes,
“An Albariño of great personality, with a striking and fragrant varietal character and surprising bottle ageing potential. It charms the nose with intense floral, fruity, and balsamic aromas and delights the mouth with its depth, elegance and freshness. Pazo Barrantes is a perfect blend of structure and silkiness, complexity and exuberance, longevity and immediate enjoinment.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2014 Jean Leon “3055” Merlot/Petit Verdot from Penedès. The wine is described as,
“an aromatic, elegant, seductive, velvety and contemporary wine made from Merlot and Petit Verdot grown in our vineyards. Very intense nose and a medium-bodied, balanced palate with pronounced notes of red fruit and spices. A long, lingering finish.”
“ ..the wine comes through as very fresh with some spiciness, nothing heavy or oaky about it. The tannins are silky, and the texture is very elegant. It feels young and elegant like a Pinot Noir from the south. This is an elegant Priorat for those who avoid the dark, concentrated, powerful wines and who appreciate more the elegant side of a Mediterranean red.”
SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
