Did you know that Spain has the largest surface area of vineyards in the world? Each region in Spain produces wine, meaning that there are many excellent wineries to be found nearly everywhere. No matter where you are in Spain, there is a winery that you can visit and excellent wine to taste!
Ready to go? Us too! It’s long trip though, so at SOHO we’re bringing the wineries and cuisine to YOU, and saving you a few bucks in the meantime.
his week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday April 19th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through April 25th.
First, SOHO will pour a 2012 Las Valles from D.O. Cariñena, and offers the following tasting notes,
“This smooth, well-balanced red blend offers aromas of blackberries, blueberries and cassis, with intense fruit on the palate and a slightly peppery finish.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2011 Montana Reserva from Jumilla. The wine is described as,
“Aged 18 months in French and American oak barriques, a higher percentage of wine from Rioja Alavesa, provides more body, weight and red fruit charac-
ter to the nose and finish. A ripe yet elegant wine with extended aging potential that is balanced and enjoyable in youth.”
“Clear deep dark purple color. Pure and very intense aromas reminiscent of red berry fruit such as cranberries, red cherries and raspberries combined with mineral notes of flint and hints of eucalyptus. The palate is dry, full bodied with rich concentrated juicy fruit, firm but ripe tannins and arefreshing acidity making this a great food wine that will age very well for 4-6 years.”
SOHO’s Executive Chef Joey Zelinka has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
