Oh Italy, how we love you!  If you’ve never actually been, aren’t you still in love with the IDEA of Italy? We think so, and for good reason!  The wine, the food, the views; it’s tough to pick just one thing to nurture your crush of Italy.  So we won’t ask you to choose.  We’ll just hand you food and wine pairings for the entire month of February!  Saluti!

This week’s Flight Night begins on Wednesday February 8th, and the wines and their tapas will be available through February 14th.

First, SOHO will pour a Cecchi Morelinno di Scansano “La Mora” 2013 DOCG from Tuscany, and offers the following tasting notes,

“Color: Ruby red with intense purple reflections.  Aroma: Bright fruit aromas of raspberry, blackberry and spice.  Taste: A modern interpretation of Sangiovese, this wine’s flavors mimic its aroma, with a soft but persistent feel.”

Next, SOHO will pour a Recchia Le Muraie Ripasso Classico Superior 2013 DOC from Veneto.  The wine is described as,

“Deep ruby red.  Intense bouquet of fruit, jam and Mediterranean spices.  A harmonic full-bodied taste that lingers on the palate.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a Frescobaldi Terre More 2013 DOC from Maremma, Toscana.  The winemaker says,

“Terre More 2013 is an intense ruby-red with purplish highlights. Very intense notes of cherry, plum and black currant, organic notes of coffee and preserved licorice, followed by fresh eucalyptus. Characteristic velvety tannins, the finish is a kaleidoscope of olfactory sensations.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a suggested tapa plate to pair with each of the wines!
