First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Casanove di Neri Rosso from Montalcino.  The winemaker offers the following tasting notes,

“Intense ruby red, hints of wild cherry, violets and red fruits.  Ample and easy to drink with excellent persistence.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2011 Productori di Barbaresco from Piedmont.  The wine is described as,

“Medium body vintage with bright red fruit and spicy flavors, balanced tannic finish”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Alasia Barolo from Piedmont. The winemaker says,

“Dark plum, leather and delicate violet aromas, plus notes of wood smoke and brown spice.  A full, firm and ripe red with rich, powerful flavors. All balanced by ripe tannins, complex savory notes and a long finish.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef, Jeff Sigler, has created tapas plates for each of the wines!

First, SOHO will pour a 2012 Castello di Neive Barbera D’Asti from Alba.  The winemaker offers the following tasting notes,

“Deep ruby red, intense aromas of black fruits and licorice complement chocolate, mocha, and hints of Ti-Tree oil. Great acidity and well integrated oak lead to great structure and a long finish.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2014 Fontanafredda Ebbio Nebbiolo from Langhe, DOC.  The wine is described as,

Color: Deep ruby red with violet highlights.  Aroma: Complex nose with traces of withered flowers, such as roses and, geraniums.  Taste: Warm, soft, and inviting, with velvety tannins, great balance and a lingering finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Tenuta Marsiliana Birillo from Manciano, Maremma. The winemaker says,

“Birillo is the epitome of a joyful, fruity wine made from cabernet sauvignon and merlot.  The deep, brilliant violet in the glass has a mysterious smoothness that characterizes the nose with aromas of jam and strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, Mediterranean herbs, and black olives. The tannins are balanced with its agility and with lightly toasted notes that accompany the prevailing density of its fruit, until the final flavorful, refreshing sip.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef, Jeff Sigler, has created tapas plates for each of the wines!

First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Antinori Castello della Sala Chardonnay from Umbria IGT.  The winemaker offers the following tasting notes,

“A brilliant yellow in color with greenish highlights, the wine shows fresh and complex aromas with delicate notes of tropical fruit such as pineapple and of citrus fruit, hazelnut butter, and vanilla. It is a wine of good structure, elegance, and a mineral character perceptible in its vibrant and balanced acidity, well fused with the notes of fruit.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2014 Le Volte Dell ’Ornellaia from Bolgheri. The wine is described as,

“The late ripening of the grapes have made it possible to express the crispness and freshness of the fruit to best effect. What is striking is the high quality of the tannins on the palate: silky, refined and without any sharp edges, albeit with a lower density than in hotter vintages. Le Volte dell’Ornellaia is a balanced, harmonious and very drinkable wine thanks in particular to the beautiful Merlots of 2014.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2012 Querciabella Mongrana from Toscana IGT. The winemaker says,

“A very hot summer with drought-like conditions followed by heavy rainfall shortly before harvest led to excellent grape maturation in 2012. Harvest took place between late August and early September. This vintage produced well-proportioned wines: fruit-forward without excessive alcohol content.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef, Jeff Sigler, has created tapas plates for each of the wines!

2014 Antinori Castello della Sala
100% Chardonnay
Paired with: Pork Belly, Champagne Grapes

2014 Le Volte Dell ’Ornellaia

Paired with: Braised Oxtail Pot Pie

2012 Querciabella Mongrana

Paired with: Finocchiona Flatbread
