Labor Day brings the celebration of the end of Summer in Atlanta, even though our heat wave continues!  SOHO begins to look towards Fall with eager anticipation, and we delight in sharing the delicious wines of Sonoma for our Flight Night this week!  It begins on Wednesday August 31st, and the wines and their tapas will be available through Tuesday, September 6th!

First, SOHO will pour a 2012 Domaine Anderson Chardonnay from Anderson Valley. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes,

“… beautiful aromas of peach and quince with hints of white flowers and spicy oak. The wine is sleek and focused as it expands into the mid-palate with a gentle, creamy richness. Its volume is restrained and enhanced by balanced acidity throughout. Finishes with flavors of tangerine and lemon zest. The wine is very elegant and surprisingly versatile.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 Emeritus Halberg Ranch Pinot Noir from Russian River. The wine is described as,

“Our Hallberg Ranch pinot noir is both luscious and restrained in nature.  Cool, red fruit and spice shape this balanced, medium-bodied wine. The 2013 vintage possesses both finesse and power with layers of berry, forest floor and oak spice. The wine is graceful with new world qualities and a character reminiscent of old-world charm.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Trig Point Diamond Dust Merlot from Knights Valley . The winemaker says,

“The Diamond Dust Vineyard, located just north of Healdsburg, produces marvelously rich and supple Merlot.  The micro-climate is of critical importance. Summer mornings are usually foggy and very cool but warm sunshine follows and mid-90’s temperatures are common in the afternoons. Most evenings the fog rolls in again and the vineyards cool down to the mid-40s.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef, Jeff Sigler, has created tapas plates for each of the wines!

2012 Domaine Anderson Chardonnay
100% Chardonnay
Paired with: Trout Meunière, Potatoes, Green Beans, Hazelnuts

2013 Emeritus Halberg Ranch Pinot Noir
100% Pinot Noir
Paired with: Red Wine Braised Chicken Thighs, Polenta, Parsley

2013 Trig Point Diamond Dust Merlot
100% Merlot
Paired with: Beef Bresaola, Mushroom Salad, Porcini Powder, Parmigiano-Reggiano

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $14.25. Or, pair the flight with a tapa plate for $19. Try a full glass of wine and tapa plate for $13. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9.50/glass and $6.50/tapas).

Have a great Labor Day, everyone, and we’ll see you soon!

First, SOHO will pour a 2014 MacRostie Chardonnay from Sonoma County. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes,

“The wine is pale straw gold in color.  Lemon peel, green melon rind and  young pineapple aromas introduce this wine to the nose. The palate follows, soft and smooth, with just a touch of lemon pith structure. There is pronounced weight in the mid palate with a unique mineral personality that will leave you thinking of a fresh lemon infused olive oil.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Arrowood Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma Coast. The wine is described as,

“Our 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is intense with aromas of dark cherry and red plum. Notes of violet and blueberry jam come through on the mid palate along with nuanced spice and licorice. The concentrated mouth feel and soft tannins are a testament to this great vintage, coating the palate with a lingering red fruit finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Rodney Strong Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Knights Valley . The winemaker says,

“This deeply colored Cabernet is bursting with aromas of spicy dark plum and crushed blackberries with a hint of blueberry. The complex layers of spice and chocolate on the palate are framed in rich, velvety tannins with a long lingering finish.”

SOHO’s Executive Chef Jeff Sigler, has created tapas plates for each of the wines!
