As the balmy month of June draws to a close, flight night at SOHO Atlanta restaurant will complete our feature on the wines and flavors of South America! The final week begins on Wednesday, June 29th, and the wine and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, July 5th!
First, SOHO will pour a 2013 Terraza Reserva Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes,
“Color: Intense purplish color with red shades. Aroma: Very expressive, revealing a floral and red fruit profile of violet, raspberry and cherry, with marked aromas of toasted coffee and chocolate. Taste: Characterized by a broad and sweet mouthfeel, delicate tannins add finesse to this great Malbec.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2011 El Enemigo Cabernet Franc from Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is described,
“The nose has intense aromas and concentrated notes of cassis, ripe currants, and sweet spices including black pepper and cloves. Fresh impact and excellent structure on the palate, reminiscent of ripe red fruits with hints of eucalyptus and tagged black pepper. This wine has an excellent balance and elegance with a well structured, persistent finish.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Piattelli Grande Reserve “Trinita” from Mendoza, Argentina. The winemaker says,
“A complex, elegant wine with a deep ruby hue, Trinita tantalizes the senses with an aromatic bouquet of coffee and spice, unfolds across the palate with sweetness and a hint of chocolate, and lingers with a moderate tannin pull and a finish reminiscent of plums and oak.”
SOHO’s executive chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.
