As we continue into the month of June, flight night at SOHO Atlanta restaurant is featuring the wines and flavors of South America!   The tour continues on Wednesday, June 22nd, and the wine and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, June 28th!


First, SOHO will pour a 2012 De Martino Legado Carménère  from Maipo, Chile. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes,

“Complex aromas of cassis, blackberry, spices, and a touch of leather. The palate is beautifully balanced, with a full mouth feel, smooth tannins, and ripe fruits. The finish is steady and long.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2011 Zorzal Terroir Único Malbec from Gualtallary, Tupungato, Argentina. The wine is described,

“Color: deep red with violety tones.  Aroma: super mineral, violets, chalk.  Very complex and fresh.  Flavor: it enters the mouth with great volume and with a very particular texture resulting from the chalky soils.  Its tannins are sharp, making it very direct, with nerve and a very long finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Los Vascos Grande Réserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Colchagua, Chile. The winemaker says,

“Deep garnet with scarlet shades.  Expressive nose with fruity aromas of ripe cherry, pomegranate and prunes, followed by notes of licorice, caramel, brownie, and walnut skin with a background of black olive, clove, and cedar.  Excellent volume, mouth-filling structure and forward, persistent tannins.  A remarkable wine of outstanding character.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.

2012 De Martino Legado
100% Carménère
Paired with: chicken liver pate on toast, blackberries, plums, onions, tarragon

2011 Zorzal Terroir Único
100% Malbec
Paired with: mojo & tomato braised pork shoulder, tagliatelle, cilantro sauce

2013 Los Vascos Grande Réserve                                                                                                                 85% Cabernet, 5% Carmenere, 5% Syrah, 5% Malbec                                                                 Paired with: grass fed beef sliders, chimichurri sauce, Argentinian Parmesan fondue

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $14.25. Or, pair the flight with a tapas plate for $19. Try a full glass of wine and tapas plate for $13. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9.50/glass and $6.50/tapas).
