Throughout June, flight night at SOHO Atlanta restaurant will feature the wines and flavors of South America. The tour begins on Wednesday, June 1. The wine and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, June 7.
First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Cousino-Macul Sauvignon Gris from Maipo, Chile. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes, “Clear, soft yellow with bright edges, this wine has a delicate freshness and zest on the nose. Fruit aromas of ripe peach, juicy pineapple and French lemon. In the mouth, it is very fresh, balanced and delightfully fun.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Carmenère from Colchagua Valley, Chile. The wine is described, “Nose: Expressive and intense nose, ripe black fruit aromas, spicy notes such as black pepper and bitter chocolate. Well-integrated oak. Palate: balanced and elegant. Velvety texture. Medium tannins structure with a round mid-palate and long finish.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino from Valle de Uco, Argentina. The winemaker says, “The wine shows a saturated dark violet color with ruby reflections; the nose offers cassis, blueberries and violets, along with a strong suggestion of soil tones. It combines density and sweetness on the one hand, with gripping, lightly saline flavors of mocha, dark berries, spice and minerals; a palate-staining finish dominated by sweet black and blue fruits.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.
