First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Stags Leap Napa Valley Chardonnay. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes, “Aromas of lemon zest, tart white peach and crisp pear show generously in this refreshing cool-climate Chardonnay. On the palate, vibrant citrus fruit intensity is balanced by a wet stone core and nutty undertones. Focused, yet generous in style, the wine has notable acidity that maintains freshness and lasting lemon minerality that adds complexity.

Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 Etude Carneros Pinot Noir. The wine is described: “The 2013 Carneros Estate Pinot Noir intrigues with its rich array of red cherry, wild strawberry, pomegranate raspberry and spice. The core of red fruit is made complex with layers of sasssafrass, sandalwood and baking spice that build in intensity through the finish. With an opulent mouth-feel and ideal natural acidity, the wine has significant substance and depth, yet stays lively and lifting throughout.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Cloissonne Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaker says, “A complex wine with layers of deep black fruits. Deep aromas of black cherry, cassis, black tea, cedar, cigar box and cocoa. Long finish with baking spices on the palate.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.

First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Cliff Lede Sauvignon Blanc. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes: “With the color of yellow diamonds, this gem of a wine shines brilliantly in the glass and tempts with alluring aromas of tangerine, lemon verbena, fall persimmon, and honeyed white peach. Gorgeous floral notes of orange blossom, honeysuckle, and night blooming jasmine intertwine with the top notes of the effusive bouquet. The gentle battonage during fermentation brought out a seductive texture that coats the palate with layers of lemon curd, quince paste, and crème brulee. A vibrant spine of minerality supports the wonderfully rich texture and, as the lengthy finish unfolds, lovely flavors of kumquat, marzipan, and citrus marmalade fill the olfactory senses.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Swanson Vineyards Napa Valley Cygnet Merlot. The winemaker describes the wine: “2012 was a warm vintage, which is reflected in the depth of flavor and generous mouth feel of this wine. Deep purple-hued red color, and an array of black fruits more commonly associated with Cabernet lead to a mouthful of velvety, ripe tannins. Lingering notes of cocoa, clove and black cherry echo long after the wine is swallowed.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2014 Martin Ray ‘Reserve’ Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaker notes: “The diverse sources of this Cabernet Sauvignon exemplify the Napa Valley terroir. The strong, traditional bouquet layers notes of ripe black cherry, dark cassis, aromatic violets, and savory curry spices rooted by earthy undertones. With clean fruit throughout the palate, this medium-bodied wine has well-structured tannins balanced by a nuance of toffee and caramel oak influence.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.

First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Monticello Vineyards Chardonnay from the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes: “This wine displays a pale golden tone, with brilliant clarity. I find expressive bright aromas of green apple and pear, integrating nicely with richer aromas of honey, light butterscotch and hints of truffle. On the palate, the wine has a light beam of bright acidity, balanced by a full-bodied creamy texture, which lends itself to the lingering finish.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Clos Pegase Pinot Noir from Mitsuko’s Vineyard, Carneros, Napa Valley. The wine is described, “Our 2012 Pinot Noir has deep enticing aromas of red and black cherries and olallieberry accented by dried porcini mushroom, dark tea, sweet spices and wisps of incense. The wine is silky and seamless in the mouth, balancing fleshiness with perfect acidity and an opulent mouthfeel.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Turnbull Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaker offers the following notes: “Aromatics of bing cherries, dusted, farm-ripe strawberries, red cassis and dark olive. There’s a rich, dense, dark fruit core, with lifted floral and earth tones. Plus dark fruit defines the forefront. Dark berries and cherries flow forth, creating a nice mid-palate density. Dark fruits, spicebox, tobacco, dark chocolate tones fill out the finish.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.

Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 Sean Minor ‘Nicole Marie’ Red Blend. The winemaker provides the following tasting notes on the wine: “Our Napa Valley Nicole Marie Blend is deep ruby in color and displays aromas of ripe dark fruit, brown sugar, molasses and vanilla. On the palate, it is big, rich and spicy, offering flavors of dark cherry, plum, cassis and black pepper that integrate with hints of oak spices, coating the palate. The round soft tannins and sweet oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Flora Springs Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is described, “Chocolate-covered cherries, Herbs de Provence, fresh boysenberries, and
a hint of tarragon waft from the glass to the nose. Deeply rich, provocative flavors of black licorice, rhubarb, and Asian plum round out the palate. This is a full-bodied wine yet its soft supple tannins lend to a silky smooth finish.”
