Throughout April, flight night at SOHO Atlanta restaurant will showcase the wines and flavors of Spain. The tour begins Wednesday, April 6. The wine and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, April 12.
First, SOHO will pour a 2012 Gran Pasas Monastrell from D.O.P Jumilla. The winemaker says of the wine, “Deep dark ruby red color with violet blue rim. The aromas are mature blackberries, ripe juicy dark cherries, gentle notes of wild herbs balanced with a dark chocolate. On the palate the wine is rich and juicy with good concentration between mature fruits and rich dark chocolate with a natural sweetness and gentle tannins.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Altos Ibericos Crianza. From the region of Rioja this Tempranillo is described by the winemaker: “Opaque cherry red color. Floral and fruit aromas of Damscus rose, strawberry and raspberry, with spicy and smoky notes imparted by oak aging. Velvety, smooth, with fine, juicy tannins.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Bodega Ateca ‘Atteca’ Garnacha from Calatayud. The winemaker provides the following notes: “Rich morello cherry and plum flavors are accented by mint, orange peel and sassafras notes in this expressive red, which has soft tannins, juicy acidity and smoky finish.”
SOHO’s executive chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.
