First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Diora La Petite Grace Pinot Noir from Monterey. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes, “Garnet in the glass, aromas of black cherries and brambly blackberry mingle with nuances of brown sugar and mocha. Soft and silky, yet powerful and full-bodied, the palate unfolds with rich layers of ripe plumbs, dark chocolate, barrel spice and coffee bean. A long, lingering finish imbues a lasting impression of dark, concentrated flavors.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Thomas Fogarty Cabernet Franc from the Santa Cruz mountains. The winemaker says, “We think very highly of the Santa Cruz Cabernet Franc. The unique flavor profile and expressive nature of these wines speak so clearly to their mountain origin. We find these wines loaded with dark  red fruit, spice and distinctive dried herb notes that are the result of low yielding vines grown in poor mountain soils.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Justin Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaker notes, “Classic cabernet flavors with moderate plus blackcurrant, cherry fruit and baking spice flavors on the entry. Sweet tobacco and savory herbal notes arrive on the mid-palate, along with beautifully balanced tannins that provide a structure that supports the wine through its perfectly balanced, clean fnish.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.

Santa Rita Hills

First, SOHO will pour a 2013 Santa Barbara Winery Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir from the Santa Ynez Valley. KensWineGuide.com offers the following review: “This ruby colored Pinot Noir from the Santa Rita Hills opens with a plum and boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium-bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is black cherry with notes of oak. I also detected hints of strawberry licorice, earth, black pepper and espresso. The finish is dry and its flavors fade away nicely.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 Stolpman Vineyards La Cuadrilla ‘The Crew.’ The winemaker offers the following notes: “This year’s blend bursts with deep, dark Syrah aroma lifted with pure red berry Grenache notes. The touch of Sangiovese and Petite Sirah both lend a solid tannic backbone. In the mouth, the wine gains complexity from the youthful primary fruit flavors -baking spice and leather.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Eberle Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles. The wine is described, “The palate is full of rich dark fruit flavors of cassis, black cherry and cola with herbaceous notes and a long finish.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Jeff Sigler, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.
