First, SOHO will pour a 2011 Allegrini Palazzo della Torre IGT. The winemaker offers the following notes, “The blend is the historic combination of Corvina and Rondinella with the addition of a small quantity of Sangiovese. A small percentage of the harvested grapes are left to dry out until December and then added to the previously vinified fresh grapes. The result is a velvety, well-balanced red wine that proffers mature, pulpy fruit.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 Castello Banfi Rosso di Montalcino DOC. The winemaker describes the wine, “Intense ruby red in color with violet reflections. Fresh bouquet with typical varietal characteristics of violet, cherry and plum. Full and elegant in taste, with a surprisingly long finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2010 Villa Al Cortile Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG. The wine is described, “Almost impenetrable dark red color, sustained and round with complex notes of licorice and ripe black cherry, both powerful and classy. Full, ripe, spicy black-skinned fruit on the palate, smooth tannins expose great elegance.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.

It is a wine with good structure, elegance, and minerality as well as a vibrant and balanced acidity.”

Throughout February, flight night at SOHO Atlanta restaurant will showcase the wines of Italy. The Italian adventure begins Wednesday, February 3. The wine and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, February 9.

Italy
First, SOHO will pour a 2014 Tenuta Delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso. The winemaker offers the following notes, “Ruby red color, with aromas of ripe fruits and sweet spices. Flavors are fresh, finely balanced and rich, very elegant.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2010 Villadoria Langhe Rosso DOC ‘Bricco Magno.’ The winemaker says of the wine, “Ruby red with garnet hints. Dry rose, vanilla and cocoa scents on the nose. Warm, robust, velvety, soft and persistent on the palate with spice notes. A harinonious, enveloping, long finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Tenuta di Arceno Chianti Classico Riserva. The winemaker describes the wine, “There is an explosion of high tone raspberries, intense violets and an earthy licorice spice. The pallet is full with supple flavors of ripe plums, black cherry liquor, vanilla, chocolates with a long orange peel finish. This is a powerful wine from a hot year but it miraculously retains the great acid and structure that has made Sangiovese famous.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, has created a tapas plate to be paired with each wine.
