Throughout January, flight night at SOHO Atlanta restaurant will showcase red varietals from around the world. The world tour begins Wednesday, January 6. The wine and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, January 12.
First, SOHO will pour a 2013 Truchard Pinot Noir. The winemaker offers the following tasting notes: “Rich aromas of ripe plum, rhubarb, and wild strawberry; with notes of citrus blossom, pomegranate and earth. The mouth is silky, with bright flavors of pie cherries, cranberry and sweet vanilla. Firm acidity and delicate tannins focus the plate and provide a lingering finish of spice and red fruit.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 Talbott Vineyards ‘Kali Hart’ Pinot Noir. The winemaker says, “Our Talbott Pinot Noir, Kali Hart is a pure fruit expression of our vineyard. It is made to be bright and appealing upon release, with the fresh, cool climate flavors for which the Monterey County AVA is known. It has a beautiful, deep ruby color with bright fruit aromas of cranberry, currant and plum, as well as hints of vanilla. The crisp red fruit flavors continue on the palate, where they are accentuated by soft, smooth tannins. The finish is long with lush fruit and hints of vanilla and French oak.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Elk Cove Vineyards Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. The wine is described, “Deep cherry red with juicy raspberry and red cherry on the nose. The palate is bursting with dark Bing cherries, ripe raspberries, baking spices and black plums. Elements of pepper, coffee and chocolate balance the intense fruit flavors while soft ripe tannins lend structure and a lengthy finish.”
SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, and sous chef, Chris Lyons, have created a tapas plate to pair with each wine.
