First, SOHO will pour a 2012 Brolio Chianti Classico DOCG. The winemaker provides the following tasting notes, “Fresh and floral bouquet with hints of quinine, violets and mimosa, followed by generous fruit sensations of blackberries, passion fruit and sweet mint leaves. Plush mouth feel, ripe red fruit and spicy taste.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2011 Tascante Ghiaia Nera. From The Wine Advocate: “From the blackened sloped of Mount Etna, the 2011 Tascante Ghiaia Nera is a pure expression of Nerello Mascalese. The Tasca family purchased precious vineyard land on Etna and began releasing a series of volcano-based wines about five years ago. This is a very successful, ruby-colored expression that is appropriate for near-term consumption. The grape’s natural tannins have been softened and the wine shows generous fruit tones, mineral shadings, leather, tobacco and exotic spice.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Pico Maccario Lavignone Barbera D’Asti. The winemaker says, “Bouquet: Intense and charming, with a wide range of aromas. Among them, cherry, plum and red berries. Flavor: Complex and prolonged.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, and sous chef, Chris Lyons, have created a tapas plate to pair with each wine.

2012 Brolio Chianti Classico DOCG
80% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
Paired with: Eggplant caponata with red onion, tomatoes and fresh herbs

2011 Tascante Ghiaia Nera
Paired with: Grilled flank roulade with ricotta, roasted peppers, mushrooms and sage

2013 Pico Maccario Lavignone Barbera D’Asti
100% Barbara
Paired with: House-made manicotti with spicy marinara, crisp sausage, fennel and fresh herbs

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $14.25. Or, pair the flight with a tapas plate for $19. Try a full glass of wine and tapas plate for $13. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9.50/glass and $6.50/tapas). See you soon!
