SOHO Atlanta Restaurant will showcase the wines and flavors of Spain throughout the month of April. The Spanish tour begins on flight night, Wednesday, April 1. The wines and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, April 7. First, SOHO will pour a 2013 Rioja Vega Rioja. Of the wine, the winemaker says, “”The palate is rich with ripe yet refined stone fruits. The finish shows great structure, but with slightly lighter and more balanced tannins than traditional red Rioja wines.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Castillo del Baron Monastrell from Yecla. The wine is described, “Castillo de Baron Monastrell is an explosion of fresh, ripe red and black fruit, with a warm Mediterranean spicy/earthy twist. On the palate, the wine is soft and fruity, and very well-framed by crisp natural acidity. The finish is clean, harmonious, and more-ish.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2005 Rioja Bordon Rioja Gran Reserva. The winemakers says of the wine, “Ruby upper middle layer color, highlights on the nose for its marked balsamic tones and elegant spices and tobacco leaves tones. The smoothness on mouth gives great elegance and persistence.”
SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, has created a tapas plate to pair with each Spanish wine.
