First, SOHO will pour a 2011 Byron Santa Maria Chardonnay from Santa Maria. The wine is described, “Our 2011 Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay displays fruit-forward citrus aromas, accented by hints of mineral and brown spice. On the palate, it is richly textured with stone fruit, fig, honey, spice and minerals.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Morgan Cotes du Crow’s from Monterey. The winemaker notes, “This Rhone-style blend has a rich ruby red color, highlighted with purple edges. Cherry pie, sweet spice and floral aromas jump out of the glass. The wine is medium-bodied with soft tannins; it offers a mouthful of blackberry, plum and coffee cake.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Daou Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles. Of the wine, the winemaker says, “Rich deep dark berry color with creamy mocha- espresso flavors is the first impression of this wine. The tannins are well integrated with the fruit and create a long finish that keeps going. It’s full bodied with a saturated finish while accompanied by bright acidity and infused by black current and cooked blueberries fruit. Balanced and intense.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, has created a tapas plate to pair with each California wine.

First, SOHO will pour a 2011 Deep Sea Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County. The winemaker says, “This Pinot Nair greets you with medium to light ruby color, and a wonderful smoky nose with vanilla and caramel notes. Barrel aged for 17 months in French Oak, this wine has a soft silky entry showing classic flavors of cherry, rose petal, and exotic spices. [The wine is] light and balanced with fruit and earthy tones.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Michael David Petite Petit from Lodi. The wine is described, “Offering a joyous explosion of color and fun, it is a substantial, dense, full-bodied,whopper style of wine loaded with pure black fruit and vanilla flavors that coat the palate. It reveals remarkable richness with a finish that is slightly dry and seems to linger.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2012 Mettler “Epicenter” Zinfandel from Lodi. The winemaker notes, “deep, opaque garnet color. Enticing aromas of dried red currant, brambly blackberry and vanilla delight the senses. An impressive concentration of flavors offer waves of sweet raspberry, blackberry and boysenberry pie, enriched by notes of sweet tobacco, pepper and hints of cola. Silky, plush tannins float through the lingering finish, balanced by light touch of acidity. This wine has the elegance and balance of a fine Cabernet, yet retains the juicy, exuberant personality that is uniquely Zinfandel.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, has created a tapas plate to pair with each California wine.

Next, SOHO will pour a 2013 Sanford Flor De Campo Pinot Noir from California’s Central Coast. The wine is described, “The wine is garnet with a ruby hue and is busting with bright red fruits like raspberry and bing cherry with a hint of cola, pepper and some earthiness.
