SOHO Atlanta restaurant will continue to showcase the wines and flavors of Australia and New Zealand on flight night, Wednesday, November 12. The wines and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, November 18.

Marlborough, New Zealand

Marlborough, New Zealand

First, SOHO will pour a 2011 Momo Pinot Noir from Marlborough, New Zealand. The certified organic Pinot Noir is described, “Bouquet: The nose demonstrates earthy, herbal characters with hints of cedar, boronia and mushroom. Palate: The focused palate is concentrated with succulent dark fruits layered over smoky oak and fine mouth-coating tannins.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Oliverhill “Red Silk” Shiraz from McLaren Vale, Australia. The wine was given 91 points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and the reviewer said, “Deep purple-black colored, the 2012 Red Silk Shiraz reveals pronounced nose of blackberry compote and creme de cassis with suggestions of eucalyptus, dark chocolate and star anise. Full-bodied and packed with concentrated blackberry preserve and menthol flavors, it has a good backbone of medium to firm rounded tannins and a long, spicy finish.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Penfolds Bin 8 Cabernet/Shiraz from McLaren Vale, Australia. The winemaker describes the wine, “Medium-bodied. Balanced, youthful, bright. Cranberry, boysenberry and mulberry fruits laced with star anise and cardamom. Defined, granular and cohesive tannins; integrated and supportive oak.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, has created three tapas plates to pair with each wine.
