SOHO Atlanta restaurant will continue to showcase the wines and flavors of Washington and Oregon on flight night, Wednesday, October 22. The wines and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, October 28.
First, SOHO will pour a 2013 Van Duzer Pinot Gris from Willamette Valley, Oregon. The winemaker describes the white wine, “On the nose, Asian pears, peaches and a hint of dried apricots swing with guava characters. A lightened and refreshing attack leads to a savory mid-palate where subtle hints of tropical fruits, guava and passion fruits move forward with a nice structure and a refined layer of creaminess. The finish highlights a sensation of minerality that leaves a slight granular sensation to please the palate.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 La Crema Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon. The winemaker says, “For our first Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, we chose a blend that we felt best displayed the classic elegance, focused acidity, earthiness and vibrant fruit of the Willamette Valley while honoring the La Crema style, which emphasizes balance and supple texture. The nose is complex with hints of violets, star anise, marionberry (an Oregon native) and bay leaf, while the palate displays more brambly fruit, coffee bean, pomegranate and candied orange zest.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2010 Northstar Merlot from Columbia Valley, Washington. The winemaker says of the wine, “The 2010 vintage has rich concentrated aromas of black cherry, raspberry and cream that lead into flavors of clove, cinnamon and maple. It is a subtle and soft with a lingering toasted oak finish.”
SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, has created three tapas plates to pair with each wine.
