Throughout the month of July, SOHO will feature wines from France and California, showcasing different varietals with old world and new world characteristics. SOHO will showcase Côtes du Rhône on flight night, Wednesday, July 2. The wines and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, July 15.
First, SOHO will pour a 2012 Jean-Luc Colombo “Les Abeilles” from Côtes du Rhône, France. The wine, a 80% Clairette, 20% Rousanne blend is described: “This wine has a floral and fruity bouquet. The taste is complex, crisp and well-balanced.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Morgan “Cotes du Crow” from Monterey, California. The wine is a 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache blend. The winemaker notes, “The wine is medium-bodied with soft tannins. It offers a mouthful of cherry, dried apricot, and leather flavors.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2013 Chateau de Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône from Côtes du Rhône, France. The wine, 100% Syrah, is medium-bodied and elegant with flavors of red currant and blackberry.
