SOHO Atlanta restaurant will continue to showcase the wines and flavors of California on flight night, Wednesday, April 30. The wines and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, May 6.

First, SOHO will pour a 2012 Laetitia Winery Pinot Noir. The winemaker describes the wine, “A seductive nose reminiscent of ripe plum and blackberry, with layered components of earth, violets and Asian spice. The palate reveals supple tannins and lively acids accented with pretty hints of framboise and underlying notes of dark chocolate and rye.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2012 Kimmel Four Blocks Mendocino Redessence. Says the winemaker of the red blend, “Our Redessence opens with a fragrant burst of blackberry and red currant bouquet with just a hint of anise. On the palate, this wine is a fruit forward bomb. The flavor of blackberry, spiced cherry, ripe blueberry coat the palate with a savory port like finish, a medium bodied, very nicely balanced, and smooth red blend a lasting expression of our Mendocino climate, soil, and farming practices.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Bishop’s Peak Cabernet Sauvignon. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate says of the Cabernet, “Another delicious, value-priced effort that’s well worth the cost of admission, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Bishop’s Peak offers classic, herb-laced black fruits, lead pencil, toast and spice-driven aromas and flavors, medium body and a fresh, pure character.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, has created three tapas dishes to pair with each California wine.

2012 Laetitia Pinot Noir
100% Pinot Noir
Paired with: Grilled flat iron steak with roasted vegetables and natural jus

2012 Kimmel Four Blocks Mendocino Redessence
85% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 2% Petite Verdot
Paired with: Seared duck breast with apricot and toasted pecan risotto

2011 Bishop’s Peak Cabernet Sauvignon
80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec, 2% Merlot
Paired with: Braised lamb shank cassoulet

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $13.50. Or, pair the flight with a tapas plate for $18. Try a full glass of wine and tapas plate for $12. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9/glass and $6/tapas). See you soon!
