SOHO Atlanta restaurant will continue to showcase the wines and flavors of Spain on flight night, Thursday, February 13. The wines and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, February 18.
First, SOHO will pour a 2011 Breca Calatayud Old Vine Garnacha from Aragon, Spain. Says the winemaker, “The estate’s oldest vines are utilized for the 2011 Breca…100% Garnacha from vines that were planted between 1925 and 1945 in decomposed slate and gravelly clay soils. Black raspberry, truffle, kirsch, lavender and liquid rock-like characteristics emerge from this astonishing wine.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2010 Artadi Vinas de Gain Rioja from Rioja, Spain. The winemaker says of the wine, “…Viñas de Gain is deep purple in color with ruby-colored rim. Alluring aromas of wild berry jam, red flowers, laurel leaves, caramel, toffee and chocolate are found in the nose, while the palate is layered with silky tannins, unctuous acidity and notes of fresh blueberries, black currants, sweet spice and aromatic wood.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2012 Bodegas Bula Montsant from Montsant, Spain. The red blend is described, “…brilliant ruby-red. Smoky, mineral-laced scents of dark berries and licorice. Chewy and focused, offering bitter cherry and cassis flavors enlivened by a note of black pepper. Dusty tannins give shape to the finish, which lingers with very good energy and sneaky sweetness.”
SOHO’s executive chef, Scott Warren, has created three tapas plates to pair with each Spanish wine.
