First, SOHO will pour a 2011 Taken “Complicated” Red Wine from Central Coast, California. The winemaker said of the red blend, “Instantly appealing on the palate, the 2011 Complicated offers surprising complexity. Finely grained tannins, and a mid-palate sweet spot, result in a very soft, velvety mouth feel. Ripe, rich black cherry and well-integrated French oak yield to a seductively long finish.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2008 Shane “The Judge” Syrah from Bennett Valley, California. Says the winemaker, “This is an effusive wine. The initial fruit flavors are surrounded by cocoa, creosote, anise, nicoise olives, and baking spices. It unfurls into a muscular and brawny wine. Structure abounds and verve emanates. The wine saturates the mid-palate and releases graphite, dried herb, and savory aspects.”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2011 Thorn Clarke “The Shotfire” Shiraz from Barossa Valley, Australia. The winemaker says of the Shiraz, “A lifted nose of clean blackberry fruit accompanied by cedar wood characters, the oak elements are complex and layered with mocha and spices. The palate shows sweet fruit characters dominated by blackberry and plum, complimented by sweet Indian spices. The sweet fruit characters are balanced by interesting savory elements adding to the complexity.”

SOHO’s chefs have created three tapas plates to pair with each wine.
