Willamette_Valley_fogWillamette Valley, Oregon

First, SOHO will pour a 2010 Val di Suga Rosso di Montalcino DOC from Montalcino, Italy. The winemaker describes the wine: “Delicate and lacy, with acidity and tannins in the right proportion. Cherry, berry and herb flavors are pushed to the forefront. Moderate length.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2011 Chehalem 3 Vineyards Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon. The winemaker says of the wine: “A classic red-fruited Pinot Noir with dark, earthy, savory elements, characteristically cracked pepper, tea leaf, cinnamon, charcoal, matchstick, spice and plum. The acidity of the vintage gives a structure to suspend wood and tannin elements playfully on the palate. ”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2010 Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, Calfiornia. Of the wine, the winemaker notes: “Malolactic fermentation in barrel, combined with 18 months aging in French oak, further concentrated the wine’s rich cherry, dark berry, and cassis flavors, adding subtle nuances of toasted vanilla and toffee.”

SOHO’s executive chef, Joe Ahn, has prepared three tapas plates to pair with each wine.

2010 Val di Suga Rosso di Montalcino DOC
100% Sangiovese Grosso
Paired with: Grilled Berkshire pork tenderloin with saffron risotto

2011 Chehalem 3 Vineyards Pinot Noir
100% Pinot Noir
Paired with: Chicken and shrimp paella

2010 Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon
78% Cabernet, 7% Syrah, 7% Petite Sirah, 4% Zinfandel, 4% Petite Verdot
Paired with: Roasted sweet onions stuffed with prosciutto and Grana Padano

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $13.50. Or, pair the flight with a tapas plate for $18. Try a full glass of wine and tapas plate for $12. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9/glass and $6/tapas). See you soon!

First, SOHO will pour a 2011 Tait “Ball Buster” from Barossa Valley, Australia. The wine is described: “Deep ruby. Dark berry compote, licorice and woodsmoke on the assertively perfumed nose. Smooth and appealingly sweet, offering vibrant black raspberry and cola flavors and a hint of bitter chocolate. Velvety tannins come on late and add subtle grip to a smooth, fruit-driven and persistent finish.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2010 Earth Pinot Noir from Oregon. The winemaker says of the wine: “Wafts of red plum and raspberry intertwine with spice, soft sage and an intriguing hint of cracked pepper. Finally, SOHO will pour a 2008 Col Solare Red Wine from Columbia Valley, Washington. The wine is described: “The 2008 Col Solare exhibits aromas of black cherry, currant, and ripe black berries, together with subtle notes of espresso and vanilla in the nose. On the palate, this full bodied wine is rich with flavors of dark chocolate, black fruits, and a coconut spice which leads to a lingering, silky finish.“

02Castello di Bossi

First, SOHO will pour a 2010 Revelry Red Blend “Reveler” from Columbia Valley, Washington. Says the winemaker, “This 2010 vintage, comprised of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from Weinbau, Sagemoor, Alder Ridge, Seven Hills, and Doval vineyards within Washington State’s Columbia Valley, is incredibly full and layered with a deep, silky and undeniably long finish.”

Next, SOHO will pour a 2009 Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico from Chianti, Italy. Notes the winemaker, “The wine shows a deep, luminous ruby. On the nose, sweet, toasty notes of oak enhance the fruit, with marked nuances of ripe cherry refined by elegant scents of violets. On entry, the wine immediately demonstrates its superb, full-structured character, with a harmonious, judicious balance between tannins and alcohol. An intensely savory finish…”

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2008 Villa Mount Eden Grand Estate Bien Nacido Pinot Noir from Santa Maria Valley, California. The winemaker says, “Dark ruby red in color, this Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir displays aromas of blueberry and cherry, leading to flavor notes of blackberry, plum, caramel, red licorice, cedar, and chocolate. As the palate deepens, notes of earth, forest floor, mushroom, and tobacco leaf emerge. This is a complex wine with a well-balanced body, soft tannins, and a long, fruity finish.”
