This October, SOHO Atlanta restaurant will feature the wines and flavors of Washington state. The tour of Washington begins on flight night, Wednesday, October 2. The wines and tapas introduced Wednesday will be available through Tuesday, October 8.
First, SOHO will pour a 2012 Revelry Riesling from Walla Walla. The winemaker says the Riesling has “tremendous minerality, touches of honey and white grapefruit, with a dynamic balance of acidity and just enough sweetness.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2010 Steele Shooting Star Blue Franc from Washington state. The Blue Franc is described by the winemaker as follows: “The wine is clean, crisp, and unpretentious with tons of fruit, including warm berry pie, complementing the traces of pepper, almond, cherry and cinnamon. Our Shooting Star Blue Franc has soft tannins, medium body, great color.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2008 Six Prong Cabernet from Horse Heaven Hills, Washington. The Cabernet is described as follows: “The nose opens with aromas of maple wood, vanilla spice, dark chocolate, and ripe dark cherry. Dark berry flavors with a ripe and juicy mid-palate, balanced tannins, and a firm spicy finish. A big mouthfeel with a Bordeaux-like tannin structure; firm but integrated.”
SOHO’s executive chef, Joe Ahn, has prepared three tapas plates to pair with each Washington wine.
