SOHO Atlanta Restaurant will showcase the wines and flavors of South America on flight night, Wednesday, June 12. Guests can enjoy the wines and tapas introduced on flight night through Tuesday, June 18.
First, SOHO will pour a 2012 Cousino Macul Sauvignon Gris from Maipo Valley, Chile. The winemaker says of the wine: “An opaque rather greenish yellow color, on the nose it is quite fresh and citric, with a slightly sweet note, that reminds us of quince, some red apple and white flowers such as jasmine. It gives way to a very good acidity in mouth with a slight note of white peaches.”
Next, SOHO will pour a 2010 Amalaya Red Blend from Salta, Argentina. The winemaker offers these tasting notes: “The aromas begin with a top note of roses and violets followed by a red fruit profile of cherries and strawberries with hints of white pepper. The flavors are similar, with exotic plum and berry wrapped in a sweet, wet clay, earthy background. The entry on the palate is smooth, moving to full-bodied and silky with a persistent finish.”
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2010 Salentein Malbec Reserva from Valley de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina. The winemaker says: “It is a deep purple, intense wine. It offers aromas of blackberries, and the floral scents of violets and vanilla. A sweet start of mouth, followed by an ample and intense feel in the mid palate, with a silky and rounded tannin texture. ”
SOHO’s executive chef, Joe Ahn, has created three tapas plates to pair with each South American wine.
