The Mother's Day menu will feature six starters including: carmelized Vidallia onion soup; SOHO's signature chicken tortilla soup; field green salad; spinach salad; Romaine BLT salad; and Chef Joe's famous calamari.

The menu will also feature savory entrees, including brunch favorites such as: French toast, served with maple syrup and smoked bacon; a SOHO omlet made with three eggs, smoked turkey, tomatoes, avocado, melted provolone and herbed potatoes; smoked salmon hash served with fried eggs, peppers and onions, and fresh dill; and SOHO eggs benedict served with proscuitto and arugula on grilled brioche with a blood orange hollandaise and herbed potatoes.

For diners who are in the mood for one of SOHO's signature dishes, not to worry, the brunch menu will feature a number of those as well, including: the house-made warm pastrami served with provolone and grainy Dijon mustard on rye bread with a jalepeno apple slaw and french fres; the apple and sausage ravioli served with browned butter cream, crisped sausage, sage and apple cider drizzle; and the salmon thai served with steamed rice and broccoli.

If you're planning to treat Mom to dinner instead of brunch, consider SOHO's weekly Low Down Lobster Boil the evening of Sunday, May 8. From 5 to 9pm, SOHO will serve up an indulgent lobster dinner sure to win Mom – and the rest of the family – over. For $25 guests receive a 1 1/2 pound Maine Lobster, Andouille sausage, fresh corn, creamer potatoes and a green salad.

SOHO Atlanta will continue to spotlight Spanish wines and flavors on flight night, Wednesday, April 13.

First, SOHO will pour a 2009 Fillaboa Albarino from Rias Baixas, Spain. This wine is considered a "rare" vintage, according to SOHO wine expert, Lars Snavely. Due to rain during flowering, less fruit than normal was produced in Rias Baixas in 2009, leading to lowered wine production. Then, the region experienced a cooler than normal summer. Due to the cool temperatures, the Albarino is crisp with tropical and citrus notes on the palate.

Next, SOHO will pour a 2008 Bodegas Atalaya from Alamansa, Spain. The 2008 Bodegas Atalaya is a blend of Monastrell, Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet), and other unspecified varieties. On the palate, the wine has layers of savory fruit and a long fruit-filled finish.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2008 Mas Igneus Barranc dels Closos from Priorat, Spain. The wine is a blend of 25% Carinyena, 70% Garnatxa, and 5% Merlot. On the nose, there are aromas of licorice and sweet red berries. On the palate, the wine is lush and full-bodied.

SOHO's executive chef, Joe Ahn, has created three Spanish-inspired tapas plates to pair with each glass of wine. The following will be available on SOHO's menu until Wednesday, April 20.

2009 Fillaboa Albarino, Rias Baixas, Spain
100% Albarino
Linguine with littleneck white clam sauce

2008 Bodegas Atalaya, Alamansa, Spain
Monastrell, Garnache Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) and several other unspecified varieties
Serrano ham wrapped manchego cheese sauteed with bread crumbs

2008 Mas Igneus Barranc dels Closos, Priorat, Spain
25% Carinyena, 70% Garnatxa, 5% Merlot
Grilled lamb chops with garbanzos and olive oil

Sample each wine in a flight (three three-ounce glasses) for $13.50. Or, pair the flight with a tapas plate for $18. Try a full glass of wine and tapas plate for $12. Of course, the wines and tapas are available individually as well ($9/glass and $6/tapas). See you soon!

Warm temperatures and longer days means it is patio season at SOHO Atlanta! In keeping with the change of season, the restaurant has added a few new items to the menu.

SOHO's chefs showcase the fresh ingredients of the spring and summer with a new pasta dish composed of angel hair pasta and pomodoro fresco with extra virgin olive oil and sweet basil. Light and seasonal, this is a pasta not to be missed!  May I suggest pairing the dish with a field green salad (mixed greens tossed in a white balsamic vinaigrette, topped with crumbled blue cheese, and sliced tomatoes) and a glass of chiati for the perfect summer meal?

SOHO has also returned the House-made mozzarella salad to the menu. Light and delicious, the salad features homemade mozzarella layered with roasted red peppers and served with arugula, tomatoes and a Kalamata olive vinaigrette.

This April, SOHO Atlanta will spotlight the wines and flavors of Spain. The Spanish tour kicks off on flight night Wednesday, April 6.

Rioja_vineyards

First, SOHO will pour a 2009 Cune Monopole Blanco from Rioja Alta, Spain. This wine, 100% Viura, is produced by one of the oldest wineries in Spain. The winery was founded in 1879 and is still run by the original founders' descendents. The Monopole Blanco offers citrus and floral aromas. On the palate, the wine offers rich fresh fruit, balanced acid and a long finish.

Next, SOHO will pour a 2007 Marques de la Concordia Signa Crianza from Rioja, Spain. A relatively new winery in Rioja, Marques de la Concordia is already making a name for themselves. The 2007 Signa Crianza offers forward fruit underpinned by the classic qualities of a traditional Rioja.

Finally, SOHO will pour a 2007 Abadia Retuerta 'Seleccion Espanol' from Sardon del Duero, Spain. According to SOHO's resident wine expert, Lars Snavely, Abadia Retuerta is considered one of the most advanced wineries in Europe. From the time the grapes are harvested until the wine goes into the bottle, everything is done by hand and the juice is never pumped, all movement is done by gravity. The 2007 'Seleccion Espanol' is a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet and 5% Merlot. On the palate, the wine offers rich rasberry and blackberry fruit, along with some chocolate, and a smoky finish.

SOHO's executive chef, Joe Ahn, has created three tapas plates to pair with each Spanish wine. The following will be available on SOHO's menu until Wednesday, April 13.

2009 Cune Monopole Blanc, Rioja Atla, Spain
100% Viura
Paired with: Roasted chicken stuffed with serrano ham, manchego, and spinach with olive oil

2007 Marques de la Concordia Signa Crianza, Rioja, Spain
100% Tempranillo
Paired with: Grilled Berkshire Pork Tenderloin served over pisto (Spanish Ratatouille)

2007 Abadia Retuerta 'Seleccion Espanol'
85% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet, 5% Merlot
Paired with: Grilled wine-marinated flat iron steak with paprika roasted potatoes
