SOHO will continue to showcase the wines and flavors of Italy on flight night, Wednesday, December 8.
First, SOHO will pour a 2009 Maculan "Pino & Toi" from Veneto, Italy. The "Pino & Toi" is a fresh and crisp blend – 60 percent Friulano, 25 percent Pinot Bianco and 15 percent Pinot Grigio. SOHO's resident wine expert, Lars Snavely, notes this wine has a rich, open bouquet full of floral and fruity aromas. On the palate, there are hints of ripe pear and apricot balanced with crisp acidity.
Next, SOHO will pour a 2008 San Polo Rubio from Tuscany, Italy. 100 percent Sangiovese, the San Polo Rubio has an intense bouquet with aromas of red cherries, violets and currants, as well as subtle spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is balanced and elegant, light and fruity.
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2006 Villa Antinori Rosso Toscana also from Tuscany. The wine, a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, has aromas of red berries and vanilla. The wine is full-bodied on the palate, with hints of red berries.
