SOHO continues to explore the wines and flavors of South America on flight night, Wednesday, September 15.
MontGras Winery, Chile
First, SOHO will pour a 2008 Catena Chardonnay from Mendoza, Argentina. This wine offers aromas of tropical fruit with touches of apple, pear, cinnamon, and minerals. The Chardonnay is full with a fresh, crisp acidity. Next, SOHO will pour a 2006 Brandsen Estate Reserva Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina. The vines used to produce the Brandsen Malbec have an average age of sixty years. According to SOHO wine expert Lars Snavely, the Brandsen Malbec is soft with plenty of rich fruit on a framework of soft tannins. The wine finishes full and long.
Finally, SOHO will pour a 2008 MontGrasQuatro from Colchagua, Chile. The Quatro is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah and Malbec. The aroma of the wine features blackberry, spice, cedar and vanilla. On the palate, the Quatro is balanced offering flavors of ripe black fruit and sweet tannins.
SOHO's executive chef, Joe Ahn, has created three new tapas plates to complement each South American wine. The following will be available until Wednesday, September 22.
